A common issue are the input and output speed sensors. When bad they cause the vehicle to go into limp mode keeping it in second gear and speedometer sometimes no longer works.
The fan motor has gone out,it was bad before it went out, drawing too many amps,so it took the blower motor resister out with it.The resister is next to the blower motor. On the speedo, check,or replace the speed sensor in the transmission,
Check the ground wire from the engine to the firewall. It is a flat braided uncoated wire and should be easy to distinguish. Make sure that it is clean and tight.
Since it was not running for quite some time and most probably the speedometer which is hydraulic control, either the oil has leaked due to the oil seal leak or the fluid has coagulated thus requiring changing of the same(liquid/oil)................sodeep
Unless it is a wiring problem somewhere, then I would guess that the two problems are separate issues and they just happened to both go around the same time. I am still thinking that the horn issue is probably just a fuse. The speed sensor is not as bad as it sounds, and it is actually pretty easy to replace if you know where to look. The speed sensor can be purchased from any honda dealer or chain auto parts store. I would always recommend genuine honda parts, they are a little more expensive but are much more reliable and are always an exact fit. If you would like to change the speed sensor and need help with that, please let me know. You can e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks, and I hope this fixes your problems.
you can do what i do keep going to wrecking yard and buy one there but i will tell you the truth the speedometer is the problem it is a defect the dealer doesnt reconize this , when it stops working smach the top of it that works for me i think its a lubercation problem my self
Had same problem, so I brought it to the dealership. They said there mechanic cleaned the contacts/leads on the console cluster, Speedo or tach have not failed since. It's been about 6 weeks so far!
