Just replaced the neutral switch. Bike starts perfectly and ran for a little while but ended up running out of gas on the test drive, in turn, I killed the battery thinking that I had some fuel in my reserve tank. Got gas and jumped the bike but now when I shift out of Neutral it immediately dies as if I hit the kill switch. @

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, check, clean, bypass and/or replace the sidestand switch.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
SOURCE: bike starts in neutral but
Check your kickstand switch. It will not allow the engine to run in gear when you release the clutch lever. It may be gummed up.
SOURCE: 2000 r1 dies when I put it in gear
are you sure that the sidestand switch has been correctly bypassed...if it has then the problem will be the starter circuit cut-off relay
