2000 yamaha vstar 1100 custom. starter problem?

2000 yamaha vstar 1100 custom. battery is good, checked kill switch and ignition, bike is in neutral. When i press the starter button, i hear a ''click'' and then nothing. is my starter shot or could it be something more simple. looks like all the cables are connected properly. any ideas? had the bike 9 years now, replaced a bad battery last year....this is the first time ive run into starter issue.

Could be a starter issue, or a wiring issue. Check for power at the starter when the button is pressed. If you have power, you need a starter, if not, trouble shoot the electrical system.

I had the same problem 2001 XVS1100 Custom
this is a starter issue Over time the starter on this bike twists when its under a load.
Look at the two bolts holding the starter on if they are not straight across then its twisted. turn starter back in line with a pair of big channel locks and try to start this should do the trick if this works i would recommend taking the two bolts out and bend them back straight or replace and reinstall starter this should fixya problem

Hope this helps ...............Jimmyfixya

Pulled starter it was not twisted, the starter works, the relay works, had the battery checked and was told it was low-11.7 v / 170 c.c.a since this starter has no bendix instead it has a starter clutch, not sure what to do.

could also be your starter relay. Try jumping the terminals on the relay and see if the bike attempts to start if so then you have forund your problem.
