Bought a 650 v star sissy bar that did not fit on my 2008 1100 classic. I bought the side brackets for an 1100 and the rest of the parts were supposed to be the same. Now the backrest is too wide for the side brackets installed.

Hello. Yes you can install saddlebags with the sissy bar. Here is a link to the brackets you will need to do this install. http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partsyamsaddle.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HERE

Yamaha V star Final Drive shaft

The drives for a 650 and an 1100 are different part numbers, so it probably wouldn't fit.

However, you can buy what parts you need to replace here:

How to change low sissy bar on a 2000 FLSTC

Look on either side of the sissy bar down near the base. There are usually two bolts on each side. Remove these bolts and the sissy bar pulls out of the side plates which stay on the bike.

Good Luck
