Assuming your dealer can't do it, just as a matter of customer relations he should find someone who can.Find and contact the regional manager for Yamaha and ask for his assistance.
Worst case is you go to a locksmith and have him make a key from impressions on a blank key. Call a few locksmiths to see who has some key blanks and is able to do the magic.

Alternate to all the above is to Google " motorcycle salvage yamaha " and get a good used switch for cheap.

You can get replacement ignition from jc whitney. or better still get a genuine yamaha one from a dealer, or keep looking for a good locksmith who can make you a key.

you could try figuring out the wiring and just do away with the ignition completely, just use the kill switch. join the wires and have it permantly on. if its like my 650 v star then it has shear bolts holding it together, if you could get ignition apart you could turn it on with a screwdriver, then put a hidden cut out switch somewhere

We have lost the only key to my sons 2007 yamaha vstar 1100 classic motorcycle. is there any way to replace it thru yamaha with the vin # and model and make number. I have all this info. thx,

VIN and model and make will not help. The best thing you can do is call around for a locksmith that has the Yamaha key blanks. He can then make a new key by taking impressions from the lock pins.
