Speedometer & odometer quit working after battery was changed out
Sounds like a speed sensor problem. Did you plug it back in when you were done? If so, remove the part of the sensor that goes into the trans. Check the magnet on the end for metal filings. If there is a lot of filings, clean them off and reinstall the sensor. Ride the bike and see if that solves the problem. If not, you may possibly need a new sensor.
Lost power
This sounds like the classic case of a crank/cam sensor going out. Pull the nose cone cover on the right hand side, and see if the sensor has melted. Most times this is exactly what happens.
Electrical failure
It's possible you have a bad connection where the positive battery cable hooks up to the starter, or the negative cable hooks to ground on the left rear of engine case. One of the cables may also be broken.
Runs for few minutes down
To check the diaphragm, pull the fuel line off the petcock and connect a short hose leading into a catch can. Spin the engine with the starter or crank the engine for a few seconds and watch the rate of flow. If it looks like enough fuel, then the diaphragm is probably fine. Have you checked the tank vent in the fuel cap? If the cap vent is plugged, the bike won't run but about a mile or so before it quits. Loosen the fuel cap on the right side if your bike is a Softail otherwise loosen the fuel cap but don't take it completely off. Just enough to allow air to vent into the tank and take it for a ride. If the tank is full, I'd advise draining about half the fuel out or you'll have it in your lap. Not good. You can take the cap off, wipe it good and clean and try to **** and blow through it with your mouth. I've done it plenty of times because I didn't have time to ride the bike on the road. Might need to brush your teeth afterwards, and I wouldn't smoke for while, but it'll tell you if the cap vent is bad.

, black carbon deposit on
You didn't say what year or model bike you have or whether it's fuel injected or carburetor equipped. If it's equipped with a carburetor this condition is usually caused by warming the engine too long with the enricher on. The enricher provides a very rich mixture to start the engine with. I've seen people start their bikes and let them run for ten minutes with the enricher on. They foul a lot of plugs to. Use the enricher to start the bike but as quickly as you can get the bike to run without it, turn it off and use the throttle grip to keep the engine running until it will idle by itself. I use the throttle lock underneath the throttle housing.

Brake light stay on all
If your brake light is staying on all the time, it's probably a broken front brake light switch. You must disassemble the right side handlebar switch housing to replace the switch.
Good Luck
