Either the needle and seat are not fully seating and sealing OR the float level is not set right. Where is the carb leaking from, internally or out the overflow?? That is the nest question.

2000 sportster front cylinder backfires

There is probably a small leak in the intake tube to that cylinder. Remove and carefully inspect and reinstall carb and induction manifold.

My harley 2004 sportster XL883 is starting, but it is backfiring alot and when i try to ride it has no power.

Is it backfiring through carb or exhaust? Has it been sitting for any period of time? We suspect carb issues. Try cleaning carb, pay special attention to the pilot jet and main jet circuits. Clean with spray carb cleaner and air, do not use wire. Make sure needle and seat are clean.

Layed up my 1200 sportster for 8 months while overseas.now running rough with high idle when normal temp and cutting out sometimes.im thinking carb .ive adjusted the idle but still not right

If your bike sat for that long with fuel in the carb, it's probably gummed up the carb on the inside. The carb needs to be disassembled and cleaned out on the inside. This is job best left to someone who is experienced in this area.

2000 XL 1200 S Sportster Sport: 2003 Harley 883 Sportster Hugger sat for a year. D...

Remove the carb soak in carb cleaner, **** out small bleed holes with a wire from a wire brush etc. One of the passageways is still clogged, or the float is sticking.

2000 XL 1200C sportster custom how to change choke cable at carb end? Do I have to strip CV carb

To change the choke cable, you don't have to disassemble the carb but you may have to take it off the engine. The black plastic piece simply screws into the side of the carb. Once out, you'll have to take the plunger and spring off and put it on your new cable. Then screw the new cable into the hole. Reinstall the the carb on the bike. Always replace the carb seal on the intake where the carb plugs into it. Good Luck
