81 Suzuki gs650 #2 carb floods gas out after start

The float is stuck open in the leaking carb. Remove the float bowl and clean the carb after removing the pin holding the float in place. While the float is out, shake it to see if gas has gotten inside it. If so, you will need a new float or will need to drain the float then re-solder it to seal it up again. To drain the float chances are you will need to drill a vent hole in it to allow the gas to drain. Just solder the vent closed when done.

I have a 1981 suzuki gs 750 engine on a quad. i

Is the fuel tank located above the carburetors at about the same level as the original bike? If not, you may have to install an electric fuel pump to get the pressure at the carburetors about the same as the original bike (guessing about 1-1/2 to 3 PSI). I assume that you have checked things like firing order, timing, throttle slide balance, compression, and equivalent exhaust system. Did you see and hear the engine run before you installed it into the quad chassis? Hope some of this helps!

Hi,my name is Darrell and I have a 81 gs 750

you will need to fix the fuel tap and try again.
The vac line opperates the vacumn tap, so the fuel shouldnt flow unless there is vacumn. either you are running it on prime or the tap is jammed open and can cause flooding in all the carbs.
You may also need a new air cleaner element

I have a totally stock 1982 GS1100L which ran fine

You are going to need to pull the headlamp unit off and fuel tank and find the wires that shorted together.
Usually if your going to get a sort its in the area of the steering head and headlamp housing, there is suppose to be a rubber ring on the headlamp housing so the sharp edge of the headlamp housing will not cut into the harness if it is not there most likely that's what happen but that's my guess.

Fuel runs out the the right vent tube and breather

Most likely the diaphragm in the fuel tap has a hole in it .The way your fuel system works is that, when the bike cranks and starts it generates a vacuum in the inlet manifold, a pipe from the manifold goes to the fuel tap. The vacuum in the pipe pulls the diaphragm in the tap away from the holes in the tap ,letting fuel flow past the diaphragm and down into your carburetors ( gravity fed).
If there is a hole in the diaphragm the vacuum will **** fuel through the diaphragm and down the vacuum pipe flooding that cylinder and starving the others.
I hope this helps.

How to tell if the rectifier is bad

hi,this might help,if you have a digital volt meter, take a reading across the battery at rest(key off)should be about 12.8-13.2v.start the bike and take a reding across the battery if the bike is charging properly the meter should read between 13.8-14.2-14.4v.to check if the regulater is working correctly, connect the meter across the battery and slowly lift the rpm from idle up to about 3-3500rpm,the reading on the meter shouldnt vary much more than 1-1.5v across the rev range,if the reading fluctuates up and down with the rpm(more than about 1-1.5v)then the regulater is faulty, and obviously if the battery is showing no difference from rest to high rpm then the stator is probably at fault..hope this helps..cheers

Looking for the side covers for a 1981 750gs.

It looks like Babbitts has them. Go to www.babbittsonline.com/parts/viewbybrand/parts.aspx Just be sure the ones you choose match the shape that you currently have. The covers for the LX model are different than the LT. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

1981 Suzuki 750L. Wont start properly

Sounds like the battery you have in the bike has gone bad sence you have to jump start it all the time. And yes the bike will run bad cause the cdi need a good voltage to work correctly. Get new one and put in new asid in and put it on the charger till it is fully charged and you should be good to go.

I was riding my 1981 Suzuki GS 750 L Motorcycle

Wow! Without a lot more information (and there may not be anymore) I would have to say your isse is electrical in nature, unless the bike spit and sputtered before cutting out. If the bike just shut off like someone turned the key off, then... check for power through to your ignition, check your kill switch, check from the battery out. No there is not a single "oh this is the problem answer". You have an electrical issue, this means a short, bad fuse, bad relay, a loose connection, and or a bad switch. you will have to go through the circuit till you find where power stops. check and see if you are getting fire to the plugs first. Please post your findings here so we can try and get to the bottom of the issue. good Luck.

I have a 1982 850L that has either a wiring

seems to be a bit high thinking that it should only be about 14v or so at its highest point. I would lean towards the reg/rect as this is the most likely culprit under these circumstances.

Oil and fuel leaking out air filter housing, won't stay running

gasket not possible the thing it could be is floats on a carb is too low so it is filling with fuel and leaking out off carb back through the air filter the way to test for this is to clean the airfilter and just leave the bike for a couple day then go see if the air filters is wet again get back to me once done
