My engine revs at high rpms when idle and higher than normal rps when in hear, making it slightly harder to come to a full stop. I believe it is either the tps or the iac. I would like to check before sending it to the dealership. Any ideas? Where is the IAC located?

SOURCE: car wont idel and revs some times for no apparent

If it has a carberator check to make sure that the throttle linkage is in a relaxed position when the car should be idoling in other words if the linkage is too tight then while your gas pedal may not be pressed the linkage is so tight that it is still pully on the throttle linkage and causing it to rev. The only reason i can think of it revving on its own though is maybe a tension spring on this linkage is broken and the linkage is loose and flopping back and forth from idel to throttle with bumps and other distrubances.

Fix the Throttle position sensor first, then see if things settle down, without that input, computer has to guess.

1997 acura cl 2.2 revs up to 1500 rpm and down to 1000 rpm just several seconds after start

Cars are design to run at a higher idle at start up to warm them up quick. There is a sensor that reads water temperature and tells your car's computer how fast to idle. Your RPMs seem slightly high but not out of the norm. Does idle ever drop to around 600/800 after about a minute? If not, your engine temperature sensor maybe defective.

No power full throttle u only rev to 2 grand that it can u help me

The cars computer has a rev limiter built in so a no load rev is about 2 grand. but driving the car it should reach 4800 rpms or 5600 rpms if not then install a vacuum gauge on a intake manifold port normal readings should be 16 inches or more at idle then drive car as you accelerate to a higher speed this should drop slightly once at full throttle is will read almost zero if below that then the exhaust has a restriction.

Why does my car sometimes idle high with the clutch engaged but return to normal when vehicle comes to a stop?

The TPS can play funny tricks like this. Also sounds like a throtle linkage problem as well. Do u mean disengaged rather than engaged?

The oil pressure is low at idle and rises with higher engine revs. Oil levels are ok, new oil approx 2000kms ago. Was a slight noise at one stage in the engine but went away after engine's revs in

It sounds as if the clearance that the bearings normally run in have been surpassed and need to be replaced. Higher engine revs will supply extra oil which will overcome any small discrepencies but constant running at this stage will result in faster degradation of all engine components concerned resulting in a more expensive repair. Shes basically worn out.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
