You have to release the clutch lever. take the bolt off of the clutch lever and take the lever off. this will release the clutch. I got mine loose but the only problem is how to reset it after you put the clutch back in.

Hi I have a hyundai elantra 2010 model. i have a burning smell in the car and the car dont want to change to 3rd gear. i had to ride it home in 1st and second. had to pump it a few times to get it into...

If this is 3speed Standard transmission with a clutch, It sounds like you have a worn out clutch, Or the more likely issue the transmission linkage has come apart or worn very badly. Transmission shop may be able to help.

Stiff clutch on 2002 elantra , clutch and transmission new , slave clinder pushes wrong way ,whats wrong ?

FYI, the slave cylinder is pushing correctly, the clutch is the 'PULL TYPE', not the 'PUSH' type.
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register the vehicle by VIN #. You'll then have access to Shop Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Illustrations, Service Bulletins, etc.

The clutch on the 2002 Elantra, as I mentioned, is the "Pull Type". Instead of 'Pushing' on the throw-out bearing, it "Pulls" on it. The pressure plate engages when the bearing is released (when it is 'pulled' back into the pressure plate 'fingers'

Was the new trans & clutch installed at an authorized Hyundai Service Department? If not, you might want to have them inspect the installation to determine what's wrong. If it WAS installed by a Hyundai Service Dept, take it back to them & tell them to FIX IT!

Putting a clutch and transmission wont seperate

you need to lift the rear of the engine about 2"then wiggle the transmission while pulling out the idle shaft from the flywheel.in other words keep the trans/engine in a straight line when pulling apart.....

My clutch does not want to engage, can't push the peddle down. What could be the problem. Hyundai Elantra J2 1998.

There are 2 possibilities.
  1. Since the clutch is hydraulic, some particle is jamming the rod-piston movement, hene the clutch lever is jammed(if using manual transmission)
  2. The springs which press the clutch plate to the engine(cam) are either brken off, meaning the clutch remains engaged all the time and since the hydraulics are not able to push them apart(release the clutch)-applicable for auto or manual trensmission.............. ..sodeep

Engine revs but car doesn't accelerate

Since you did not say what type of transmission you have i will suspect the clutch is slipping if it's a manual.
If it's an automatic, it could be several things. Low fluid level...clogged filter, fluid needs to be changed..transmission serviced...weak pump, bands/clutch packs worn...etc
Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

When my car is in Drive it just revs and doesnt move...

Get your transmission position sensor checked. With it being an automatic it doesnt have a clutch

2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

How many miles to you have on your Hyundai Elantra 2000?

Clutch or transmission?

If it is automatic transmission check hydraulic fluid level to be between marks with lever at "P" position, at operating engine temperature and car at horizontal place.
