I had this problem on a different type of vehicle and the solution was to replace the brake switch down near the brake pedal...This switch activates the brakelights and signals that the brake is engaged before allowing the transmission to come out of park...

How do i manually unlock gear shifter

If you cannot shift out of PARK (P), ease the pressure on the shift lever. Push the shift lever all the way into PARK (P) as you maintain brake application. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want. If you are still having a problem shifting, then have your vehicle serviced soon.

Gear shift has too much play in it.

Check the shift linkage/cable to see if it is broken, loose, disconnected, or binding.

Having trouble getting button on side of gear shift pushed in to put vehicle put in gear. sometimes takes like 5 minutes to get released stared all at once

try and push the gear shifter forward like you are forcing it into park. while holding pressure on it try pushing the button in, and make sure your foot is on the brake pedal. Some cars have a safety feature that requires the brakes to be depressed before you can shift into drive.

Vechile will not shift into park or reverse

The first thing to check is the linkage. Sometimes the linkage will slip, Block the wheels on the car (both front and rear) to prevent rolling. Locate the shift linkage on your transmission, and loosen the nut. You should be able to move the shift lever through all the gears, including "P" and "R". Place the transmission shift lever in "Park" (on the transmission) then move the shift lever (inside the car) in the "P" position and tighten the nut (not a bad idea to use a new locking nut here) You should now be able to shift through all gears. If this does not work, you have a more serious problem that may include a worn or broken belt or broken parking pawl inside the transmission.

When shifting from park to reverse or any other gear, it will clunk and as if it not figuring out that i am changing giears the display on the dash will show a d,r mixed. then when you take off in drive,...

Sounds like it is having trouble getting to first gear. You really should have a transmission shop look at it. Could be the linkage or range sensor, but seems more like a shift solenoid to me.

Having trouble shifting from park to any gear, when I wait about 15 secs it may shift easily and other times I turn the wheel and it will shift

Do not shift into park and move the steering wheel to lock it. It will lock itself if the vehicle is moved or someone tries to steel it. Reason is that the lock pin hsas many holes to drop into and if you lock it when you have turning pressure on in it. You will lock it with pressure on the lock pin.
Second, always set your parking brake before, not after putting it in park. Never put your front tires against a curb and put it in park without letting the vehile roll away from the curb.. An don't hang you car on a slope by putting it in park. Parking brake always befor parking gear and hands off steering wheel when placing in park. Try it, you'll like it.. forcing your shifter to come out of park can cause damage to the shifting componants. Let me know how it works for you. - Ned_

Car will not engage out of park then when it did the side button stuck in

I am having the same trouble with my 2004 sentra, above the gear shifter, (which in on the floor) there is a little plate, no bigger than the size of a fuse. If you pop off the little plate you can stick something in there while you shift out of park. Just remove the object after you shift out of park. It cost about $300 to fix it according to Nissan. I hope this helps

F150 is having trouble shifting out of park

The problem could be the brake switch. Before you crank your engine, turn the key to the on position, this bypasses the brake switch. You should be able to shift into any gear. If you can, start it and drive it, but ever time you shift into park, you will have to turn your truck off and repeat the process. If that is the case, have the brake switch replaced. If that does not work, something could be wrong with the linkage between the shifter and the transmission. Or something could be wrong with the transmission. Good luck.
