In my 04 jetta this was a blown fuse....my speedometer wasn't working either they were on the same fuse....since I don't pay attention to my speed in town I didn't realize this until the next day after noticing the break lights.

The high mount brake light and the lower ones are on different fuse circuits. 1st off you need a wiring diagram booklet.

Can the movement of the brake pedal to disengage cruise control on 2016 GM Equinox be adjusted?

It is tied into the brake light switch, so technically yes, but very little or you may lose your brake light activation.

Rear window brake light comes on while driving

Are you sure the main brake lights are not coming on too? The work off the same switch. It sounds like your brake switch needs to be readjusted or replaced

Have a 1995 jeep cherokee that both brake lights went out. all other lights working, signals, reverse, but not brake lights. fuse? have no owners manual. also a right hand drive

Most likely the fuse, if the fuse is good, then check the brake light switch, that is under the dash, near the top of the brake pedal.
Press on the brake pedal with your hand and see if the button is popping out, if not, tap on it and see if it pops out, if not, replace it.

I replaced the brake light switch on my 1994 chevy silverado, but when you press the pedal it won't move the contact enough to make the brake lights come on.

it should be adjustable the switch should touch the pedal arm just enough to make light come on that way the slightest tap on the brakes make lights come on.

1997 Ford E350 ABS and Brake light come on

The system is set up to Not work if you have brake issues. You replaced bake switch, look closely at the pedal if it touches or activates it, Is it lose? it will cancel the cruise. Sounds like if you actuate the pedal and it makes the tail lights go out... it an Adjustment/switch issue.
Hope this helps
