Yes you may fix it. You probably have a problem with a speed sensor. This sensor is used to determine wheel speed for the abs controller. The wet weather may have cleaned the sensor off enough to start working again. It is easier to repair if you get the code that was turning on the abs light and it will tell you what sensor is causing the problem. then you should be able to fix it yourself. chances are the light will be back.

The VCS and Abs Indicator light came on this morning while driving in traffic this morning on a wet road-what does that mean on my 2006 Rav 4 that has 30,000 miles ?

If the lights went back off it means that the systems were activated due to road conditions, did their job, and then returned to their normal standby mode. If the lights remain on you need to have the vehicle's OBD computer read for trouble codes and then determine if any repairs are necessary. You can have the codes read at your dealer, your qualified mechanic, or at many auto parts stores.

Sometimes the abs light will stay on after starting.

I have the ABS light on. I pulled the relay to reset it. the light went out but as soon as I start moving the light comes on. I tested the ABS on a sandy road and it does work. I jacked all wheel off the ground. I rotate each wheel and found the ABS light comes on when rotating the rear left wheel. I removed the rotor to examine the the system. I cleaned it with the brake cleaner I still get the ABS light on after rotating the wheel. Is that the sensor that is bad?

ABS Light comes on and stays on. What is the problem?

The most common problems associated with the ABS light coming on it a broke ABS speed sensor harness, or a faulty sensor itself.
You can try looking under the vehicle by the wheel bearings and see if the ABS harness is broken, but otherwise it will be nearly impossible to know which sensor is malfunctioning unless you get it scanned.
Your brakes will still work fine, just on wet or slippery roads the ABS won't engage until the problem is fixed.

ABS works poorly

You can try unpluging the fuse under the hood for the ABS but your brake light and ABS light on the dash will come on.I'm in NH and it would fail the saftey inspection if either of thoughs lights were on during the inspection.See if this helps your problem but you most likely have a wheel sensor going bad in the ABS system.

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, ABS & brake indicator

These are extremely complex systems and more likley than not, there is nothing wrong with the abs system. If you don't feel a pulsing force against your braking foot pedal, than you've got nothing to worry about than getting the dealer to clear the code in the abs control box. Again, if you feel NO changes in your braking system what probably happened is when you hit the bump/pothole one of your wheels went slightly faster than the one opposite it and the abs kicked in for a split second therefore storing a code.

1998 GMC Yukon ABS light stays on from start to off the engine

Hello,
It sounds like the wheel speed sensor may have been damaged in the process of removing the tire. That would cause the abs light to come on. Ususaly when the abs light comes on it is a sign they won't opperate as abs but only as standard hydraulic brakes. I hope this helps. If you have more questions reguarding this or other conserns please ask me. Please remember high ratings are very important to me.

Thank You,
Roy
