91 ford explorer 4.0 where is the fuel pump relay? some say under hood and others say passenger side fire wall inside of vehicle near floor board?

It is under the hood in the fuse and relay center.

passenger side fire wall under the hood near the bottom were the firewall starts to roll into the floor board. there should be a tube hanging out of the fire wall.

Near base of steering column..

The fuel pump relay is in the power distribution box in the engine compartment under the hood.
Find the box with the fuses and relays in it then go to the # 5 relay – this is the fuel pump also in location # 9 there should be a 20 amp fuse – this is the fuel pump relay/rap module for the `98 Ford Explorer.
Inside the car on the passenger area near the floorboard and behind the kick board towards the right front passenger area us the inertia switch. The button is counter sunk and should be pushed down if conditions are safe. Sometimes people kick this area and set off this safety switch. This is a ‘cut off’ switch made to stop the flow of fuel in case of an accident.

Fuse panel is located inside vehicle under dashboard on driver side. Fussible relays and links are located under the hood on the front of vehicle on drivers side.

Most fuel pump relay units are located under the dashboard near the steering column. In some cases, the unit is located in the area where the steering column is mounted, or near the engine's firewall. Lift the carpet in the front section of the passenger or driver's side footwell to locate the wooden floor board; the end of the fuel pump relay is typically located near the center of the board

Its under the hood drivers side on the upper firewall.
