this vehicle is seventeen years old ? something is worn out but what and where ? i have no information as to weither its petrol or diesel so i cannot advise but changing a alternator as well as this would never cause your problem as stated without knowing what fuel type your engine is i cannot even think about suggesting a few diagnostics other than to ask at the local garage ,could be anything from a perished vacumn pipe to fuel problem .no idea without more information .sorry
in all fuel injected cars you do not adjust idle. All you can do is clean the throttle and replace the Idle Air Control valve and check data thru a scanner to see if any sensors are out of specs. If this car has a maf sensor in the air filter tube it could become contaminated and cleaning or replacemnet will allow it to see more air which in turn allows the computer to add more fuel for better idling and accelration.
You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual. Register, login, choose year, make, mode, and view repair guide. They have your vaccum diagram. There should also be one on the hood itself.
1990 i believe had throttle body fuel injection NOT a carb. I can send you information but check the fuses and make sure they are all good I believe the fuel pump fuse is 20amp (yellow fuse) located under the plastic cover on the passenger side of the firewall be careful there are many electric connections there the fuel pump fuse is in a small inline holder www.aceautomotive1.com
if you find this information helpful please rate me accordingly and let me know if you would like a diaggram of the electric schematic for the fuel pump on the truck and vacuum diagram.
