95 cougar 4.6L has a P0306 code. Comp. on it is good but on cyl. 2 is low. Plugs and wires have been changed. When oil is squirted in cyl. 2, comp. is normal. What am I missing?

Worn out spark plugs, ignition wires, coil(s), distributor cap and rotor (when applicable) Incorrect ignition timing Vacuum leak(s) Low or weak fuel pressure Improperly functioning EGR system Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor Defective Crankshaft and/or Camshaft Sensor Defective Throttle Position Sensor Mechanical engine problems (i.e.—low compression, leaking head gasket(s), or valve problems
I hade the same problem and changed the cranckshaft sensor and that was it. Above I have included the possible reasons for this code if you meant P0306.
did you check the head for cracks some times when a car is over heated and you drove it a long way it cracks the head.
you can send it to a auto machine shop that can pressurize the head for this
Low compression can come from 3 places. Intake valve, exhaust valve or rings. Squirt some 30 weight oil in the spark plug hole and retest the compression. If it goes up the rings are worn. If not then a valve is leaking.
If you have changed plugs and leads and confident that they are now ok you need to run a compression check on all the cylinders, I'd emagine they should all be running at approximately 150psi per bore, if 1 & 6 are down it could be the head gasket, timing or piston rings.
light flashes when comp. picks up a skip pull code and it will be po300 random miss p0301 p0302 p0303 p0304 all are for that # cyl that has the miss best bet change wires and plugs check for oil on wire to plug end in spark plug hole leaking valve cover gasket or spark plug tubes...
open the oil fill cap look inside (the hole in the valve cover ), is the camshaft turning? if not the cogs are stripped off the timing belt belt
note:i believe this engine is an interfearence engine. meaning when the cogs strip off the belt or it breaks, the valves can and usually do
