On most cars you can. But first take a string and rout it around all the pullys excludeing the compressor pully. To make shure the path is cler. Then mesure the length of the string to order your shorter belt.

Seized air conditioner compressor

If the compressor is seized, you will know when you turn on the AC, as the belt will shriek like a banshee usually. And yes you can usually just bypass it with a belt for the same model as yours without AC. If there werent any built without AC, you can try another model with the same engine. If all else fails, you can use a small mason's rope to pass through the pulleys without the AC and mesure the length of the rope needed to do so, then count the number of ribs on the original belt. Any good counter parts guy will be able to find you a belt that will fit the measurements as close as possible.

The ac compressor is seized .I need to replace belt but I need to bypass the ac pulley.Do i need to buy a bypass pulley?

If the pulley on the compressor will not turn freely, then yes if a bypass pulley exists you would need to use it in place of the compressor.
If the compressor pulley turns but the compressor is locked up, just unplug the compressor clutch.

Seized A/C compressor

The cause of this is that the roller bearing that the AC compressor pulley turns on is frozen up, the bearing can be replaced but you will need to buy the pulley assembly to get the bearing and you will need a special puller to remove the pressed on pulley. As far as finding a proper belt size to bypass the compressor that is nearly impossible to do, you may get the measurements right but in most cases the belt size you need will not be available, When the factory builds a car or truck with "AC Delete" they install a bypass pulley and the same belt is used for both with and without AC. The cost to replace the bearing is low, and that would be the by far the easiest thing to do here. You can buy the AC tool you need online, just google the year and make.

A/C compressor pulley is seized and burning the serpentine belt

yeah its seized up[ and they dont make a repair kit for that one either. they have at most auto parts stores an ac bypass pulley . its a bracket and pulley so you can bypass the factory ac unit and still run the factory belt. but if you decide to change the ac unit there are 5 bolts holding the unit down .have the system evacuated.loosen belt and drop down out of your way. take the ac lines off the compressor and set aside . there are two bolts on top in front and there are 3 bolts in back on top tieing together a triangle shape mounting plate , take all 5 loose and out.disconnect ac wires (snap clip) lift , lightly pry off old ac unit.set aside and reverse the procedure to install your new or salvage yard ac unit. refrigerant chargers can be purchased from wall mart ( there cheaper) at $30. roughly 2 1/2 cans will completely fill the system just follow on label instructions. its all easy to do if you can use wrenches and have a little knowledge. and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. and save a bunch of $ along the way.

Air bag light & drive belt

Suspension or brake work tends to light half the idiot lights on the dash on a more modern car. the electronics associated with them seem to be especially sensetive to having parts replaced by anyone except a certified tech for the manufacturer. take it for a test drive and get a Carfax on it if you're not positive. Bypassing an AC compressor is not that big of a deal to people more interested in Economy than in-cabin comfort. some places even manufacture a bypassing pully that sits in the place of the AC compressor, when it's removed, so they don't have top buy a new serpentine belt. the bypassed compressor, by now, is probably hard seized, or there could have been a leak or other damage to the AC system that the previous owner didn't want to deal with. Also, some people actually believe that cutting off the air conditioner will gain a couple MPG. it shouldn't make a lot of difference in a vehicle that normally gets only in the low teens of mileage anyway. the compressor only creates drag, apparently, when it's actually being used to cool the vehicle. I'd worry more about the perpetually on Airbag light.

Alternator Belt

TAKE A ROPE AND RUN IT AS IF IT WERE A BELT ALONG THE ALTERNATOR AND CRANKSHAFT. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF ROPE THEN GO TO PARTS STORE TO BUY A SMALLER BELT. THE IDEA IS TO BYPASS THE AC BEING A 94 IM SURE IT HASN'T WORKED IN QUITE SOME TIME, I'VE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR 8 YEARS AND WE BYPASS THESE ALL THE TIME, THE TENSIONER ON THAT CAR I BELIEVE IS ON THE ALTERNATOR, HONDA MADE THE AC OPTIONAL.. BELTS ARE USUALLY NAMED AFTER THERE SIZE (IE 4060934 IS 93.4 INCHES LONG) IF NEED BE REMOVE THE AC COMPRESSOR.
