Car wouldnt start this morning...No engine, oil or check light ever came on..my boyfriend tried to start it 15 min after we had just parked and the lights radio everything came on..the car wouldnt start...he said there was no oil inside of it..and I wasnt yet due for an oil change...smells like something burned a little..what could this be

What color is the smoke...check and make sure you did not put too much oil...that can cause it to smoke and is bad for the engine.

sounds like you have a failing ecu. the capacitors in the ecu are worn out. there has been a lot of problems with the ecu on mazda's over the years, only take one out put overload from the alternator and the ecu starts playing up. no codes come up as it don't code its self. having the battery off is like a reset.

check the connection on your battery terminal ends. if they are loose or corroded that could explain the intermittent no spark. also could be a short somewhere but id check the terminals first. I had that problem once and the car did all sorts of weird things. airbag light, check engine light, randomly wouldnt start until i would mess with the battery.

its quite possible that the timing belt broke. if broke the camshaft will not turn, and therefore no start of engine.

Check to see if the timing has jumped a notch or moved

check the relays for both lights and indicators

turn on ignition wait 3-5 mins in the on position it is a safety feature

Does the engine have a lot of miles(Km) on it--over 100K? If so, try using 'high-mileage' oil in the engine. It will free sticky valve lifters, rings, and soften oil seals. Instead of water sprays, buy a can of 'cold spray' from an electronics parts supply house to test for 'cold' failures--it is more direct and much colder. This may be a humidity problem rather than a temperature problem. I assume that the engine computer was read for any codes stored.

You are losing oil pressure, this means your oil pump is probably out. Don't drive it anymore until you can get that repaired. It's shutting down because it's siezing up. You need the extra power to jump it because the piston rings and wall are sticking together, let it all cool down and the rings contract and loosens up. Allowing the engine to turn.

Get a Trouble code free at Autozone or similar store. It may be the catalytic converter thats bad.
