My 2007 Ford Five Hundred's Traction Control dash light (little car w/skid marks) comes on intermittently, stays on, the next time we start the car, it's off, then comes on after a short trip. It keeps doing this. Why and what happens if we don't do anything about it.

we did scan it with the code scanner and nothing came up ...no error code. The dealer wants $120 just to diagnose the problem. I was wondering if there's a danger or issue if we don't get it diagnosed. Is a bad wheel sensor a terrible thing?

I had a new Ford transmission put it and that is when the problems started with the dash issue.

Why would you NOT do something. Scan it. Most likely a bad wheel speed sensor.

Assuming you don't live in the Automotive Abuse world, like most people. I would forget the dealer because of the price factor on labor and parts. You should have a good local repair shop, you use several times a year, even when you have no issues. You should expect to pay $70.00 to hook up a professional scanner, seeing as how they cost $10,000 and are a necessary item to work on todays vehicles. The wheel speed sensor is an input to your ABS Braking System. You'll have the dash light on until it is replaced or what ever else may be the problem. These is no real harm or danger, if that is your question. Expect to have different issues like this on your vehicle once a year. There very complex and difficult to troubleshoot and a little more expensive to repair due to the amount of time needed to find the issues.

I have the same problem with my 2006 500 SEL AWD. It was diagnosed as some sensor in the transmission being faulty. They wanted big bucks to fix it, and not fixing it won't damage it. It's just an occasional annoyance.

Abslight stays on. How to fix? This is a2007trailblazer?

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.
DTC C0035 or C0040
DTC C0045 or C0050
DTC C0110
DTC C0131
DTC C0161
DTC C0186
DTC C0196
DTC C0201
DTC C0240
DTC C0241 or P0856
DTC C0244 or P1689
DTC C0245
DTC C0283
DTC C0287
DTC C0290 or C0292
DTC C0455
DTC C0550
DTC C0558

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .
• DTC C0035 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
• DTC C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

The awd light and oil light stay on and toggle back and forth. Also my anti skid light stays on all the time.

You will need the dealer to scan the control module to see what is going on, there is nothing you can do to repair this without special skills and tools.

2007 ford 500 oil warning light comes on and just had the oil and filter changed 700 miles ago,62000 mile on car .light comes on when started ,push reset and it goes off and stays off until the next start...

When they changed the oil they did not reset the light. The car needs to be told when the oil is changed.

when the warning comes on press the setup button. it should say press reset if new. Press the reset button. It should say if new oil hold reset. Press and hold the reset button until the display changes to oil life set to 100%.

I have an o7 five hundred the speedometer goes to zero and the tack shows two dotted lines as well as the air bag lght comes on and the check engine light and the abs and the wrench and traction control.

This is a sign of a failing instrument cluster. you need to have a dealer use the IDS tool to perform a scan reading prior to repair to see if any other systems are causing this.

ABS light and Traction control light stay on. Vehicle brakes ok, but pedal feels "grindy" intermittently when braking

That "grindy" feeling is when the ABS kicks in. It's only suppose to activate when you slam on the brakes and the wheels would normally lock. Instead, ABS will very quickly pump the brakes on and off, to prevent the wheels from locking (making a giant skid mark) and stopping the car more effectively. Generally this only happens if you slam on the brakes or loose traction due to rain or snow while braking. If this is happening often and the brake light is on, on the dash, then you need to get this checked out by a qualified mechanic ASAP.

2006 Ford Five Hundred traction control light on all the time.

This is a computerized traction control system that monitors the wheel spin and makes split second adjustments... if the light is on, Ford recommends servicing the system. I'd check with a local non-dealer mechanic that may be able to help you out cheaper than a dealer first.

ABS/CHECK ADVTRAC/SKIDDING CAR LIGHTS GO ON

The abs sensors also control the traction control and 4 wheel drive actuators so if one of the sensors is faulty the traction control will be disabled and the drive system will be stuck in the mode set at time of failure be that 4x4 or 2wd
get the abs system repaired
