Check all your fuses..you should have one for the alternator, or it might say Batt. or it even may say Charge... and if your battery keeps dying out, and the alternator is being checked with a voltmeter, and its showing good..then your problem is somewhere else....Also check your connections to the alternator..Sometimes they burn out on fords.. Also check your cables that on your battery...And make sure the terminals are good/clean, and tight...Goodluck...

Keeps showing change batteries

If your battery light is coming on in the dashboard then that probably means there is a problem with the alternator, not the battery. Remove the alternator and have it tested at autozone. Otherwise, if you have a multimeter, you can see how many dc volts the alternator is putting out by placing the probes on the battery terminals. It should be arounf 14.5. If it is below 13 then it isn't working properly anymore.

Battery light

Its probably the alternator.
The warning light comes on anytime alternator output drops below 12 volts.
I should also tell you, you can't check an alternator by running the engine with the battery disconnected. The alternator needs the battery in series for the diodes to work. What you did could have damaged the alternator and also the engine computer. Only generators can be checked by disconnecting the battery.

1997 bmw 328i dash lights all lit up at once and after several minutes they faded, and eventually the headlights and dashboard lights dimmed.

Alternator. Have it tested with a voltmeter while on the car and running. Or take it off and have it tested. The current to run the car and the accessories is from the alternator when the engine is running. The battery light coming on alerts you that the alternator is not doing its job.

Have alternator checked car may be running on battery power only. Check alternator belts as well. At night, look at lit dashboard while car is in idle, if dashboard lights are pulsating a bit the alternator may need to be replaced.

What does it mean when your battery light comes on?

All cars have a battery light on the dashboard that is designed to warn you if the recharging system fails. A simple circuit looks at the voltage that the alternator is producing, and turns the battery light on if it is low. The battery light indicates a battery charging problem. If the battery light comes on and stays on while you are driving, the most common cause is a broken alternator belt. Total failure of the alternator is another possibility.

2 Dashboard lights have come on 1 check engine

well if the battery light came on that means your alternator is not charging the battery,,you need a new alternator,,,and maybe a new battery if it killed it,,,,that set the check engine light on,,,,,for it not charging,,,,,do not buy a aftermarket alt,,,,only saturn/gm,,as they do not meet gm/saturn specs and you will install it and still have a battery light on,,,,,,you need a factory alternator,,,yes it costs more, but unless you feel like putting a few in and out to find this out,,,,,
