1)Park your car on level ground and
start the engine, leaving the gear in neutral or park. Wait for the engine to
warm up. Unless your owner's manual directs otherwise, allow the engine to
continue running throughout this procedure.
2)Find the ATF dipstick, located at
the back of the engine. The ATF dipstick is often shorter than the engine oil
dipstick but otherwise looks similar. If you're lucky, it will be labeled.Pull
on the dipstick and completely remove it. It may be very long. Wipe the
dipstick with a rag, insert it in the engine, push it all the way in and remove
it again.
3)Look at the dipstick's tip. Observe
whether there are two different full markings: one for cold readings and one
for warm readings. If so, read the one for 'Warm.' If the ATF does not come up
to the line marked 'Full,' add ATF.6
4)Add ATF (see Tips) into the hole
that the dipstick came out of (yes, that little tiny hole). Use a funnel with a
long, narrow neck. Add only a little at a time, and check the level with the
dipstick after each time. It's easy to add ATF but fairly difficult to take it
out if you add too much.7
5)Put the dipstick all the way back
in when you are done.
An automatic transmission shifts gears
while you drive. It uses automatic transmission fluid. A standard transmission
must be shifted by the operator and may use several different fluids. Selecting
the correct fluid for your transmission is important. Consult your owner's
manual for the correct fluid type.
Automatic transmission
Park
your car on a level surface and start the engine. Apply the parking brake.
Depress the foot brake. At the same time, select each gear range momentarily
ending in park.Open the hood of your car and secure
it with the prop rod.Locate the transmission dipstick. Wipe away any dirt on
the stick and tube to prevent it from entering the transmission. Pull the
dipstick out of the tube and wipe it clean. Install the dipstick back into the
tube, and then remove it again. Read the level of fluid on the stick to
determine the level of fluid in the transmission.Smell the dipstick.
Deteriorated or burnt fluid will have an unpleasant odor.Look at the color of the fluid. Most automatic
transmission fluids will be reddish.Feel the fluid on the dipstick. Gritty
fluid might be a sign of trouble and should be checked out further by a
mechanic.Remove the prop rod and close the hood of the car if the
fluid level is correct, there is no unpleasant odor and the fluid is reddish-brown.
Standard transmission
Jack your car up and secure it with safety stands.Locate the transmission fill plug on the transmission housing.
Remove the plug and look to see the level of the fluid.
The fluid level should be at the bottom of the hole, or no more than 3/16th
inch below it.Draw some fluid from the transmission and feel it.
Check for metal particles in the fluid. Metal particles indicate abnormal wear
on the gears or bearings. This could indicate that a repair is needed.Install the fill plug back onto the transmission if the
fluid level is correct and the condition of the fluid is normal.Raise
the car, remove the safety stands and lower the car to the ground.
This will help. Thanks please keep
updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
I presume that you have an automatic transmition, to check the oil you must ghet the car on service, is trichy job and the oil in the ghear box must be replaced at the exacly specified quantyty and type of oil. in that time you must replace alsothe filter of the gear box oil.

TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid
The 5R55N transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for
fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid.
However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not
working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you
notice some sign of fluid leakage.
Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.
