Should hold six quarts...just to be sure, add five, run it and then re-check.
It's good to fill the filter before you put it on...doesn't need to be "full full" but just pour some in it, tap it on the ground a few times and add more...helps priming after oil change.
The capacity '93 - at least '98 is 6 quarts .If unsure put in 5 then recheck after running for a few minutes after the change.
The filter on a 4.0 is sideways mounted and adding oil to it before install will cause an avoidable mess.
Adding oil before install only works with a filter mounted upside down .

does it have the 4.0L motor ? if so open the hood stand off to the side where the exhaust bots to the head and have some one rev it up quick if its coming fron under the hood by the engine the exhaust manifol is cracked. The 4.0L jeeps have had lots of problems with this.
