Check that the radiator is full to the top... sometimes there is a small air lock in the top of the radiator, take off the radiator cap slowly and fill it up till it overflows a little and replace the cap letting as little air as possible into the system, hopefully the light will go out. Otherwise it could be an airlock elsewhere in the system, squeeze all the pipes while the engine idles and move the water around by squeezing in a rhythm, you will feel the difference between an air filled pipe and a coolant filled pipe, check every bit of pipe is full of water with no air locks in bends or twists.

"What does warning XO indicator mean on my 2008 nissan altima and how do i reset it"

The XO indicator on a 2008 Nissan Altima is the "Oil Temperature Warning Light." This light will come on when the engine oil temperature becomes too hot. This can be caused by a variety of issues, such as low oil levels, restricted oil flow, or a malfunctioning oil cooler.

To reset the light, you will need to turn off the engine and let it cool down. Once the engine is cool, check the oil level and add oil if necessary. If the light remains on after adding oil, or if the problem persists, it is best to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic

I experienced twice an orange engine oil pressure warning light and after the car wont move. I switched off the car and after ten minutes it moved. what is the problem

While an electrical fault or a faulty switch could put the light on, it is such an important light it should never be ignored and the reason for it established immediately. As far as the owner is concerned that means lifting the bonnet and checking the oil level and adding more if the level is low. If it isn't low the car should be recovered to a repair shop. Driving further could be very expensive and very inconvenient...

If the oil pressure light has switched on because the oil pressure is low then continuing to drive will soon wreck the crankshaft bearings or cause crankshaft or camshaft seizure. Damage happens so quickly if the oil pressure is lost at motorway speeds the engine is likely to be severely damaged by the time the car is stopped.

I strongly suggest you have the reason for the light switching on established and repaired.

Why would the oil light stay on?

That depends on the type of oil warning light being displayed. There are 2 types of warning lights

1. Low oil pressure light which all cars have
2. low oil level light which some cars have.

Low OIL PRESSURE warning means the oil pressure is below minimum and when this happens there will be insufficient lubrication of many engine parts because sufficient oil cannot get to all parts of the engine it is required to lubricate. Until the cause is identified and rectified the warning light will remain. If you run your engine with low oil pressure you will cause expensive damage to internal engine components.

Low OIL LEVEL warning means the oil in the sump has dropped to a dangerously low level (which may be due to an oil leak or abnormal oil consumption by the engine.) This warning means the oil level needs to be topped up and the warning will stay displayed until you top up the oil. Running the engine with low oil will cause expensive engine damage.
Since it is a 2 minute job, Oil levels should be checked fortnightly as a minimum, together with radiator coolant and power steering fluid levels, if you run the car most days each week as most people do.

It is possible for a warning light to remain displayed when the cause has been dealt with because there is a problem with the sender unit. However it needs to be established with alternative checks that the problem has been fixed before investigating if there is a problem with the warning light itself.

Red light in dashbord blinks on/off look like a red hose with a drip.

That's the oil pressure light. Take it to an auto parts store like Napa or AutoZone, and ask the staff to scan your car (they'll do it for free). That will diagnose the specific problem. Odds are that you're a little low on oil.

I have a red warning light that is activating on my 1999 Malibu Dash. It is on the lower right hand side & looks like a low water indicator. My fluid levels all seem fine.

If your collant level is ok, check your coolant level sensor. Its located on the coolant reservoir, usually at the bottom!! If faulty it will illuminate the low coolant indicator.

Check engine light came on. Checked all fluid levels, found low oil. Added oil and need to reset check engine light

low oil would normally set off an individual warning.. either way when You topped off the oil it would automatically reset the light.. the check engine light comes on when an electrical component sends a signal, the best thing is to take your car to a qualified mechanic so he can use his scan tool to get the code from your car. It could be most anything from an O2 sensor (the typical first engine check light) to your cars computer..

Peugeot 106 1.0 litre, temperature warning light on dash comes on one or two minutes after starting engine, sometimes stays on or intermittently goes off and on whilst driving. Also the radiator cooling...

hi, if the collant level is ok and the car isnt over heating then check the heater works in the car and make sure it gives of heat when hot is selected if it dont then the chances are the thermostat has gone and needs replacing.

If on the other hand you have heat then the chances are its just a faulty temp sensot these are cheap to buy and easy to replace.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
