1996 Honda Accord EX cranks and starts sometimes. It use to fire and start everytime with very minimal cranking, like right away. Is there a relay causing this? I have new sprak plugs and distributor cap and rotar on it now and a new battery. I have heard there is a relay under the dash and Honda's have been known to having this problem and need to replace this relay. How would I find this relay and know which relay it is causing the car not to start? I have over a 100,000 miles on My Vtech Accord and have always kept it up mecahnically. It just started doing this. I am now charging my battery after running it down trying to start it. I have been unemployed since August 2008 and can't afford to take it to the dealer or tow it some place. Can someone help me out with this?
It is the fuel pump relay and I replaced mine on my 1988 accord. That one was above the kick panel on the drivers side about a foot and a half up. not easy to get to. Having the new one helped identify the old one. Now an 88 is 8 years from a 96 and I can't tell you exactly where yours is but mine did that too and the new one fixed it. I took the old one apart and you could see the bad contacts. HTH PS Laid off too.
