Perhaps you have a sticking IAC valve. Idle Air Control valve. pretty common concern.

2001 crown vic 4.6l maybe twice a week i go to crank the car and it sputters real bad and eventually dies. After it dies i clean the throttle body and then it runs fine. What is causing this?

I would replace the dle Air Control solenoid. I know its a guess, but its a common thing. when cranking the engine, the idle should flare high, and then slowly down to idle speed.

What kind of oil do i put in my 89 crown vic

If you have more than 100,000 miles use high mileage oil. In the spring and summer use 10w30 and if it gets bellow -20 where you live use 5w30 in the winter

My 1993 crown vic has trouble idleing properly when first started in the morning, either in the winter or the summer. Also if i try to take off real quick after the first start it laggs and runs really...

You may want to check the Vacuum lines if there are leaks. Check also Fast Idle Thermo Valve, which controls the idling at cold starts. If you have a carb, check the idle up valve.
