SOURCE: 82 corvette crossfire injection, engine

Please go to the crossfire injection forum to get some straight answers to the 82 corvette CFI system and how to troubleshoot it properly. There's a lot of misinformation given here, so much so, I don't know where to begin.

One thing is, the 82 corvette CFI does NOT have a MassAir Flow sensor system, it uses MAP and O2 mostly. The CTS sends a signal to the ECM telling it what the temp of the motor is and in turn the ECM controls the amount of fuel being dumped. On the older (orignal) CTS sensors, they have one wire and takes its ground from the threads. If any coorosion takes place, usually the CTS will report a cold engine and request lots of fuel.

To repair this issue, install one of the newer style CTS sensors that have two wires, one for signal and the other is ground.

Fuel pressure and vacuum leaks on any CFI motor play key roles. Set the FP to 14-15psi measured inbetween the TBs. The regulator is located on the rear TB and must be slightly moded to make it adjustable and can be done in a few minutes.

Most likely your throttle position sensor is faulty. You could have a vacuum leak as well. Most probable cause is a bad sensor. Is your check engine light on? Have you checked your engine codes? You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual.

Testimonial: "the check engine light had been on but we unplugged the battery yesterday for a couple of hours and put it back in and the light isn't on anymore. "

My 2014 4010 Mule bogs down under a load such as going up a small incline. It is fuel injected and I have put in new plugs when I recently changed the oil. What do I need to check out?

Assuming all else is ok, the problem could be a weak spark, insufficient fuel delivery or a bad injector spray pattern.

Under load the atmosphere inside the cylinder is very dense and a much higher voltage is needed to produce a spark - that is why when testing the spark we need to look for a fat blue spark that will jump a much larger gap than that of the spark plug.

If the spark is ok it would probably be better to hand over the fuel system checking to a specialist, though with the aid of a repair manual you would undoubtedly be able to perform some of the work.

How To Change The Spark Plugs On A 2002-2005 Kia Sedona 3.5 Liter

You'll need to remove the oil cap and the 6 bolts holding on the engine cover. The front 3 spark plugs are pretty easy to replace. You'll need to unplug the spark plug wire from the coil and disconnect the electrical connector. Unbolt the 2 10mm bolts holding the coil to the valve cover. Twist the coil and boot back and forth and pull it out of the cylinder head. The spark plug is down in the head, you'll need at least a 6 inch extension with a 5/8" spark plug socket, a telescopic magnet will help get the spark plug out of the head. The back 3 spark plugs involve removing the upper intake and throttle body, unbolt the bracket to the throttle body, and the bracket bolted to the upper intake manifold. on the back side of the engine. Remove the tubing from the throttle body to the air cleaner box. Unbolt anything else bolted to the upper intake. Unplug electrical connectors to the throttle body and any other electrical connectors on the upper intake and remove the upper intake bolts. And move the upper intake out of the way, there are only spark plug wires on the back 3 plugs. Twist and turn each boot to aid in removing the boot from the plug. I would get a new upper intake gasket and consider replacing the wires at this time also. There are actually only 3 spark plug wires, so for what is involved to get to them, I would replace them. I have found alot of the wires will arc to the upper intake manifold.

White smoke cylinder misfire and smell of gas on my Volvo 2002 v70xc

4 cylinder? Blown head gasket. 6 cylinder, look to the throttle body. It has coolant lines on it, it can and will corrode though the throttle throwing coolant in the intake. 1 And 2 are the first to misfire. But usually have multiple misfires.

2006 Ford Taurus. P0172. System too rich. Bank 1. Rough idle and starts hard when warm. Smell of gas. Misfires on cylinder 1,2and 3.

Check for spark at the wires leading into the cylinders that are misfiring. If you don't have spark, you may have a bad coil if you have one coil that runs all the cylinders. If you do have spark, you may have leaking injectors that are dumping fuel which is causing a rich condition. Check your spark plugs and see if they are wet. That may help in determining a leaking injector. Hope this helps. Good luck.

You need spark plugs, the champion on piece ones
in the motor (were talking 5.4 V8 here)
Can't have plugs in there older than 3 years

You need front oxygen sensors replaced at 100,000 miles

You most likely have several failed COP Ignition Coils, that
give you throttle body codes (the problem IS the coils NOT
the tps sensor or TACM on throttle body-just replace the
coils yourself (Rock Auto.Com for parts)

Clean the MAF Sensor (CRC MAF Cleaner)

90 Civic DX. Cranks but doesn't run. When towed in gear it will run, but 'bogs out' as soon as throttle applied. Engine floods upon trying to startup. Plenty of spark, fuel and air. Though

First I am not aware of two flaps or throttle plates in the body, but I do see a rubber diaphram with a rod that could open a plate with vac.
If you have something blocking air entering the throttle body it could cause the engine to flood. A faulty temp sensor could also be telling the computer to dump extra fuel into the cylinders, but you should have a trouble code for that.
If the plugs are getting spark the ignition system is working.
What would happen if you disabled the fuel pump and started it without extra fuel ? You could have a leaking fuel pressure regulator or something allowing extra fuel into the cylinders.

Random multiple cylinder misfire indicates a weak spark or at least that is the most common cause - most misfires are ignition related and as that is the easiest to service and test it is best to eliminate the possibility first.

The coil resistance should be checked against specifications and if found ok test the spark power is sufficient. If the spark is insufficient it is possible it is weak because the ECU is not working correctly or because the voltage supply to the coils is too low. Check the spark plugs for fouling and wear, especially baked on town running deposits.
Clear the code(s) before every test.
