Not always, but when driving long distances a loud whirring sound happens on the right side towards the back of the car. does not impede driving, but worrisome because of the noise. any ideas?
Had a somewhat similar problem that only happened at 30 to 35 mph and higher. The plastic inner liner in front of the front wheel had become detached, somehow lost the two plastic pins that hold it in place and wind pressure would force it into contact with the tire and it made this strange light scratchy whirring noise. Used a stainless 1/4 20 bolt and nut to secure it, problem solved. Here's hoping.
If you are sure its right rear of car, jack up car so the right rear is off the gound, grasp the spring with you hand, and with your other hand, spin the wheel, if you feel any roughness , your wheel bearing is bad and will need replacement.
