My 1996 land rover range rover 4.0 se is currently inoperable. i got it did a full tune up, all new break lines, fuel pump, enertia switch, lots of tlc. ever since i purchaced it there been srs and eas. air bags and air suspension. well after all this work got to drive it for a month. was running so good. about a week ago the check engine light came on. so i checked fluid levels, everything but water and or coolant was at correct levels. the next time i drove it was vary sluggish and made it barley. it just stalled out! i put in natural it started right back up. continued home it stalled three more times in a mole radius. everytime starting directly back up. parked it at home and next morning it would not start. got a new fuel throttle positioning sensor still no luck replaced two relays now am looking into a whole new fuse box. i have put alot of time and money into this vehicle. right now we are trouble shooting to try and narrow it down. if it sounds like a curtain common problem or any advise would be gratefully appreciate. i want this car road

There is an onboard trouble shooter that will point you to the failing sensors very quickly that you access using a code scanner
That system is called fault codes and by having them read will save you much time , money and frustration
I suspect that it could be a fuel pressure problem caused by a faulty EVAP purge valve not venting the fuel tank properly codes p 0440-p0449 deal with problem EVAP systems

Try disconnecting the electrical connector at the transmission and see if it stall when you put it in gear. You will get a service engine light, but not to worry, it will go back out once you reconnect.
By disconnecting the wire connector we can tell if it is transmission related.
Good luck, let me know.

SOURCE: 93 gmc sierra 5.7 liter engine, injection carb,

you say you replaced the fuse, but does the fuse have power? the gray wire at pump should have power when cranking, or for 2 seconds when turning key on. At fuel pump relay, put power onto gray wire, the pump should run if the wiring is good. if it doenst run then ck for power at fuse while power is on gray wire.

The plenum shouldn't be damp with gas. Is it a throttle body fuel injection system?

Could be a leaky injector.

  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Upper intake manifold (See: Upper Intake Manifold)
    • Fuel meter body
    • Injector retainer lock nuts (J) and retainer (K)
NOTE: Use care in removing the fuel injectors to prevent damage to the electrical connector terminals. The fuel injector is serviced as a complete assembly only. Also since the injectors are electrical compartments, these injectors should not be immersed in any type of liquid solvent or cleaner as damage may occur. Fuel injector cleaning is not recommended.

  2. Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel injector (L) into the fuel meter body injector socket
    • Retainer (K) and injector retainer lock nuts (J) and tighten the nuts

4.0 V8 range rover 96 where does the fuel pipes connect to the engine?

Undo the junction before the injectors and turn on the ignition to see if fuel is pumping. Most likely it is not but I doubt there is a broken pipe - more likely a broken power wire

The pump is in the top of the tank. Remove the carpet and cover plate to get to it. Turn on the ignition and use a multimeter to check if there is power to the connectors. The sensor wire will only show about 5 volts but the power wire should show 12 volts or more.

If no power, trace the wire under the vehicle to find the break and re-join it - preferably with solder and shrink but spade terminals and shrink will do. Alternatively run a new wire from the pump to a switched wire under the dash but this is a lot more work

Why my 1998 range rover 4.0 se won't start unless I use starter fluid. It will only turn over without it.

did you hit a big bump when it stopped? you may have a fuel emergency shut-off switch that tripped or a blown fuse.

Range rover problems

Sounds like a fuel problem. With the switch in the "on" position, can you hear the pump running? Crack the union where the fuel line comes up to the injectors, crank the engine to see if fuel comes out. If not, check for power at the fuel pump (in the top of the fuel tank). You should have over 12V between the white wire and earth. Ignore the voltage of the green wire - that is the sender.

Why doesnt my 1996 range rover not speed up when i acelerate da gas after i recently replaced the updated fuel pump?

This is just a WAG, but I would say you didn't replace the fuel filter after you replaced the fuel pump. Sometimes a stronger fuel pump also pump more of the accumulated gunk from your tank into the fuel system, so the filter clogs up faster.

1996 Range Rover SE Rear Brake Fluid Leaking right over passeenger side wheel. Computer states (low break fluid) all three brake lights are on. Peddel goes all the way to the end. Very low brake support...

Replace the wheel cylinder on the wheel where you see it leaking then bleed brake system you ought to be ok on your brakes. As for the sun roof sounds like part of the track system is stripped happens all the time on automatic shoulder belts you can hear the motor running but no movement.

1999 range rover se changed fuel pump, truck still wont start, relays and fues look good.

why you have replaced the Fuel pump? who advised you to do so?
be guided as follow 1. on the Engine Side on the top there is a fuel rail for the injectors. turn the ign. key to the second position (on) and check the valve located on the fuel rail if fuel is coming pressurized and still won't work. then open on of the spark plugs wires and check if spark is there. (Be Careful doing that). if no spark then is there any message comes up on the Dash? if not messages then you can check the Crank Sensor if no current being generated from the ign. coils.
