I have a coolant leak in my 2000 chev silverado1500 5.3 4x4.coolant was all under the drivers side of truck. Friend looked at where the leak was coming from.

So he says the radiator on drivers side has a leak from where the gasket connects too the radiator with the side plastic tanks. The silver prongs that bend over radiator are pulled away.. do i need new radiator or can it b fixed???

SOURCE: Engine coolant hot

fill the reservoir with the coolant. it is a GOOD thing you dont see steam or a leak I hope.YOU DO WANT TO CATCH THE PROBLEM BEFORE IT REALLY OVERHEATS OR YOU MAY HAVE MORE COSTLY PROBLEMS. fill the reservoir. BUT, it may only fill the "radiator" once you do this as it cools off. As the radiator water cools it sucks the reservoir water into the radiator. as it heats up and the water swells (increases in volume) it pushes the excess into the reservoir. when the engine is good and hot and you dont have any coolant in the reservoir, that is a sign that the radiator is low or empty also.
when the engine is cold, find the radiator cap and remove it, add as much coolant you can there. fill the reservoir also. If it has been several years since the radiator cap has been replaced, I would do that now ( it is a cheap investment). if the gasket on the cap is not sealing well anymore or the exspansion valve mechanism on the cap is not working properly anymore, then it will let coolant pump out into the reservoir and not hold radiator pressure. if the reservoir is empty the radiator itself is probably too low or empty.

My 2000 Honda accord is leaking coolant on the drivers side. My temp gage shows car is running hot! Help!!!

First, you need to fill the coolant reservoir. Second, you need to locate the leak. Usually, it is either a bad hose, or it could be the radiator itself, since they are now made out of plastic with an aluminum core.

If you are not mechanically inclined, take it to a good repair shop.

always check the water and have it pressure tested fast

Leak under car on driver side maybe waterpump

If the fluid is a bright green or yellow colour, it is coolant fluid. Check the water pump, there should be a seal leak drain hole under it, look for signs of a leak. If there is a green/yellow track leading from below the water pump. you need to have the water pump replaced. A leak from the engine would be dark brown to black an a transmission leak would be red tp very dark red. Coolant would tend to dry up while oils spills do not. The water pump is located on the side of the engine where the belts are. I do not know if your car is left or right hand drive.

Coolant leaking from passenger's side of 98 chev cav.Running hot.

first make sure all the hoses are in good shape, if so, it would have to be the heater core or water pump, not sure if you mean it leaking in the floor on the pasengerside, if it is this is definitely heater core, if its leaking on passenger side under the hood its the water pump or a hose

I HAVE ANITFREEZE LEAKS FROM MY 2000 CHEVY S10 BLAZER. IT'S HARD TO TELL BUT THE LEAK SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE MOTOR RATHER THAN FROM THE RADIATOR OR ANY HOSE I CAN SEE.

a common V6 failure is the intake manifold gasket. coolant will usually leak behind the water pump on the drivers side, however it can leak at other locations on the intake manifold gasket.

coolant leaks from other areas include the heater core, hoses, expansion plugs, trans cooler, and coolant overflow tank.

Coolant leak coming from the center of the car, under the engine

Looks like bypass hose or engine coolant plug just got leak! look at ur coolant reservoir, it might overflowing when ur engine heats up and its dripping towards the engine! Look and search all the hoses in the side of the engine and reservoir! If its the bypass hose, there will be a difficulty in removing and replacing it, but u could fix it! taah!

1999 chev malibu leaks water from under exhaust manifold but not from block.

it may be a bad head gasket if it is leaking coolant. check to find the source of the leak. or if its leaking coolant from intake manifold gasket. also check water pump and all hoses.

2000 Chev Cavalier - slight leak in brake line connector directly under the drivers side door. Can this connector be replaced or do the lines have to be re-flared?

Normally this far back the line would have to be reflared to fix the leak. If you have a Firestone auto repair near you they check the brake system at no charge and you can see exactly what is wrong while it is on the lift.
