How much trans fluid and what kind does a 05 f150 xlt 4.6 take please and thank you

A 2005 Ford F150 XLT with a 4.6-liter engine typically takes around 12 quarts of transmission fluid. It is recommended to use either Mercon V or Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid. It is important to consult the owner's manual for the specific transmission fluid recommendation for your specific vehicle as it can vary depending on the transmission type and model.

1992 F150 shifts real hard...transmission sometimes won't engage...checked all fuses...replaced shifting sensor on tranny... mechanic says he thinks its the instrument cluster ?

are the bolts connecting the transmission to the engine tight? Check the engine mounts as well. if the engine is sliding around on broken mounts and cause trouble with transmission...

What did they check on the tranny to say that it's fine? Did that come with removing it and doing a rebuild? Or changing the fluids? Good luck! Nice thing, lots of f150's around from that time period still in scrap locations. Probably can get parts fairly cheaply, rebuilt or aftermarket...

I don't know why he's saying the instrument cluster...

95 Tracker 1st to 2nd shift issue (automatic)

Would start by checking linkage or the cable that runs to tranny. Tranny fluid level is correct? Check fluid level first. Run 15-20 mins and check with motor warmed and running

1999 FORD F 150 TRANSMISSION SHIFT TO DRIVE HAVE TO REV UP ENGINE TO GET IT TOSNAP IN GEAR AFTER THAT IT WORKS FINE EXCEPT WHEN YOU STOP IT IS AME AGAIN

The problem is the transmission is loosing pressure, when the engine is reved the transmission pump replenishes that pressure and the transmission re-engages. Here are the most obvious reasons:

1) Low tranny fluid.
2) Dirty filter slowing flow of fluid in the tranny.
3) From there it gets complicated and expensive but basically something in the tranny is started to let go and the fragments are clogging the system and/or filter; in that case you are looking at a potential major overhaul of your tranny.

I would check the fluid level first, assuming it's up I would drain the pan and check the filter-pay close attention to whats in the fluid-are there chunkies or anything other than clean fluid? Check and change the filter. Unless it's just low fluid the chances are pretty good it's serious.

My tranny is slippin and transmission is low on fluid where do i add?

to add transmission fluid, lift the hood.
look near rear of engine for a thin tube with a dipstick
NOT THE engine oil dipstick,.
to add transmission fluid, you will need a narrow funnel that will fit in dipstick tube.
and that is where you add the fluid

How much tranny fluid do you need to put into the transmission of a 1991 Automatic 4Runner?

These are total capacities. You need to compensate for any residual fluid you have in your system.

I will list the transmission type then the capacity to the side of the transmission type. All transmissions take regular Dexron III fluid

A43D 6.9 qts
A340E 7.6 qts.
A340H 10.9 qts.

Capacity of fluid for a transmission of a 2006 F150 5.4L Truck. Book says 13.9 quarts I emptied 3-4 quarts.

you must have just drained the pan? There is much more held in the converter. The one I am rebuilding this week is an 05 and doesn't have a drain plug on it (not many do anymore). A flush is the only way to change it all out. 13.9qts sounds like the total amount if the trans was completely empty, converter and all
