1987 cutlas ciera 3.3 v6, sputters and idle poorly before dying

1987 cutlas ciera, will sputter and idle poorly before dying. This has been occuring spiradically, however as of late the car has been dying more frequently. It will usually start again after this happens, but will continue to run poorly and die. occasionaly it will not start back up. However after waiting a couple hours it will fire up. The Spak plugs and spark plug wires have been changed, also the fuel filters have been replaced, no change in performance.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a 1987 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.9 liter. I have had this truck for a little over a year. the truck only has 81,000 miles on it but it has this sputter out and dieing problem. When I first started driving...

I think that you need to be more specific when you say that you have changed everything... Because i'm sure that there is MUCH more that has to do with this problem then you may think.... Has the fuel pump fuel pump float pressure regulator and filter been changed out. Also has the crank sensor been changed out. What you the cam sensor?

Rough engine idle under heavy acceleration. After a heavy rain, I started the car and the idle was terribly rough. Changed out the spark plugs and wires. Its much better but the condition still exists...

heh, you might want to change the title here as I am pretty sure you cant idle under heavy acceleration.
However I think you were on the right track with the plugs and wires. You didnt mention the cap though and that is usually the biggest culprit in damp weather. Put a new cap and rotor on it and see if that doesnt do the trick.
