My citi golf 2001 alarm doest work is dead the dont want to open with the remote but the car start how can i activite the alarm

USA car,not told and matters huge.(out side USA are different cars()
check fuses
scan the car, using OBD2 scan tool.
only have 1 key
only have 2 FOB
car came new with 2, lost second set< never have just 1.
does car have IMMO ?

If it aftermarket, remove it.

If the windows open or close if you hold the key in open or close position then the alarms working .You could break open a window no alarm but the car will not start owning to immobilisor .Not all cars have the type of alarm your thinking of ,and dont bother fitting one of these viper things as i get loads of questions on here when they go wrong which is often owing to the cheapo microcircuits used from china .

where it shoud be the alarm in vw golf

Hi,some citi golfs got a problem with there feul tank,the tank have a not return valve at the pipe going out of tank so what happens is like the car is turning or tilting the valve gets stuck and its stops petrol flow.best is to get a long screw driver to wedge it open.or if that fails it best to replace tank.hope this helps.regards conraad

check remote batt..if that dont work unhook car batt for 24 hrs. should reset

youer alarm unit has an open circuit or it might be door sensor

try changing the drivers door lock

If im not mistaken,your car should have an alarm reset/override.Below the steering column,on the dash should be a slot where you put your remote transmitter to deactivate the alarm.If that works,you then need to have your remote checked and coded by a vw dealer.Good luck.

Your Central locking wire is short from any one door side. Please check it properly.
