How to set timeing on a 2002 ford tourus

ok did you follow the ignition timing and firing order set up correctly
did you turn either the crank or cam shaft/s with out the chain
did you do a compression test to check for bent valves

remove both ends, (clips)
any cable clamps both ends
cable falls out.
reverse above.
and set slack per FSM book or alldata.com

Depending if it is backfiring out carb or out exhaust will tell you if the time is off. The carb backfire is a sure sign the timing is off. A valve is not completely sealed off before ignition and it explodes before sealing off the chamber. This also could mean a burnt valve as well.
AN exhaust pipe backfire could be a few things. Raw fuel in muffler that ignites from the heat. Over rich mixture, timing, jump timing belt, clogged catalyst, etc.
Now your vehicle runs on LPG which actually is a good thing. Much cheaper then gasoline fuel. I am not familiar with LPG carburation methods, but backfires are pretty basic. Carb or exhaust fire, timing is a good direction and carb adjustment. I would do a compression test also. Check for a leak that is not allowing a full burn of the fuel in the chamber. Check vacuum lines also.
If Timing the vehicle requires a short between 2 points, it must be done to show correctly the proper setting without advancing the timing. As long as the distributor has not been removed and placed a tooth off which is rare, but jumped timing belts will set a tooth off occasionally. Do a compression test, it will let you know your engines condition accurately.

You need a C-Clamp or Large Pliers. They are held in place with 2 Wedges . YOu have to knock the Wedges out and grease them when you put them back in

Classic symptoms of a failing crankshaft or camshaft sensor. More common failure is the crankshaft sensor.

its possible you have a filter in your tank or farther up your line near the fuel rail. look for another filter and make sure you have fuel to the filter you just replaced. could have clogged it again if you have alot of rust and setament in your tank.

Sounds as if it's not getting fuel. Change your fuel filter, then if nothing, it could be the fuel pump.

You said spark plug is firing that is fine have you check fuel system check your fuel pressure regulator,also check your spark plugs conditions.
It can be fuel pump but first check the pressure fuel.

check the vacuum lines on the back of the engine. if there is any hissing sound ,you have a vacuum leak .
