Go to the dealer any GM dealer, give them the VIN number and they will cut you a key to that vehicle. If the ignition has been replaced with one different to the OEM, you may have to replace the whole ignition switch.
GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed, use the following procedure. 1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. 2. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. 3. If the Change Oil Soon light flashes, the system is resetting. 4. Start the vehicle. 5. The oil life will change to 100%. 6. If the Change Oil Soon light comes back on, the system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Check to see if the security light is flashing. If it is turn the ignition on, but don't try to start it. let it set for ten minutes, do this three times with out taking the key out of the ignition. After the third time your vehicle should start. If not let me know and we can go from there.

If you have the key tfat broke off stick it in ignition and push in to turn back or wiggle steering wheel back and forth while you turn key back if that dont work tou will have ti replace ignition switch. Thanks
I have towed several of these with same problem. Sounds like to me it needs to go back in for the ignition switch again. Unless it's not going into park. If it's not going into park it would be a shift linkage issue and needs to be adjusted. Chris J.C. Towing & Recovery
There is a plastic piece that goes between key switch and ignition switch that might be broke have the same issue and trying to find out how to replace this piece.
If you had battery unhooked and assuming that it is turning over try this
Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
