The coils are under the top engine cover(four bolts,10mm) Unplug it and pull it up. Flip it over and there are four small bolts to remove to get access to the coils. Just a note. Most times the coils aren't bad. It is the white cover holding them. It cracks from age and heat, letting the spark threw to the engine.

I want to replace coil pack on my 1998 mercury grand marquis. How do i begin

Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe if interfering.
  2. Disconnect the connector from the ignition coil. coilconn.gif

  3. Remove the bolt from the ignition coil. coilbolt.gif

  4. Remove the ignition coil on plug.
To Install:
  1. Install ignition coil on spark plug.
  2. Install ignition coil bolt. Tighten to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.). coilbolt.gif

  3. Reconnect the ignition coil electrical connector. coilbolt.gif

  4. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe if removed earlier.

Diagnostic code p0300 for an 1999 pontaic grand am

I have 99 pontiac grand am and is misfiring the is code p0300 I have already changed the spark plugs and the two coils including the ignition coil cover. The car shacks when you turn it on and it smells like gas from the muffler. Also after a while the cadillac converter turns red from it heating up. Can some help me out?

I do not know if you have the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.8L DOHC V-6; however I have included both below. The 2.0L has a ture Distributor Cap and the 2.8L has an Ignition Coil.

Were is the spark plugs located in a 2002 pontiac grand am

2002 Pontiac Grand Am 2.2L MFI DOHC 4cyl

The spark plugs on this engine are located under the ignition coil and module assembly. To gain access to the spark plugs, the coil and module assembly must be removed. On the 2.4L (VIN T) engines, the spark plugs are platinum and require replacement every 100,000 miles (160,900 km) or 60 months which ever comes first.

Screw location on dash for 1998 pontaic grand am

Its 2 screws in the middle below the temp controls and 2 just above the speedometer.
