My geo starts just cant get it out of park - 1992 Geo Metro

Its not a GEO, its a chevy something,
1998 GEO name was dropped and now is CHEVY bla bla

there is a bypass, lever on shifter ,cover in book in glove box, oper.manual.
the brake lights must work or the park lockout solenoid will be dead.
you blew the brake fuse?

you have a very dangerous car, first do not park near your home'
use the street curb. gas can and will catch fire if it leaks.
and 10x that near spark plugs (this case)
you have a gross failure in the injection system.

my wild guess, (blind cant see leak) is the Injector 0rings have failed
at the fuel rail, this is too common on very old cars)

the park lockout is active. (most cars this year have a console bypass)

95 geo or 96 something else, cant help if car make and type and year, are not clear.

Check your brake light fuse and switch. The power to the interlock system comes from them.

Try holding and turning the wheel when you try starting it. Make sure your in Park too.

Yes replace the brake light switch that is under the dash actuated by the brake pedal and both your problems should be solved.

Sounds like the safety switch that keeps you from starting the car when it's not in park is loose or is not making good electrical contact.
