G4ran is correct with the code input procedure after 10 attempts! But if you have attempted to input the code 10 times already this would indicate the code you are inputting is wrong! You need to get the correct code or after 13 attempts you will lock the stereo and will only be able to unlock it by taking it out and getting the code read from the memory chip! Which is more expensive and a lot of hassle! Go to gumtree.com and search ford radio code, they can get the correct code from your radio serial number and email it to you quicker and cheaper than going to a main dealer! I have used the service and can recommend it.
Hold down the number 6 button on your radio for a few seconds and were it is showing the number 10 on the screen this should change to number 11 you now have three atempts to enter your correct radio code

press button 1 repeatedly until correct first digit of code is shon on display. then press preset buttons 2,3 and 4 in the same way for remaining digits, until the correct complete keycode is shown. Then press preset button 5 to enter keycode. If you have entered the correct code, the unit will operate.

I had the same problem and ive been searching through the net for the solution, just came across one now but i havent gone out to the car to try, will do when i go out as my car is parked miles away (parking in London :S) anyway, thought i give u the solution i found, give it a go :)

operator the last 8 numbers in your vin and they will provide the radio
code for FREE!

- you will also need to provide the serial and part number of your radio
(takes about 5 minutes to take apart an eclipse dash...1 screw in the
bottom of the HVAC panel) if you call the 1888mitsu2001 it will provide
basic instructions on how to accomplish this.
- if your radio says "off" (meaning you entered the wrong code too many
times) you need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC mode
for approx. 45min - 1hr and then your radio will say "code" at which
point you can enter the code to unlock the radio.
