SOURCE: Removing a 2000 Excursion hub to convert from auto

its not a snap ring in the sence that there are no holes for the pliers.use a small screw driver and something to hook it with. it sits inside the of where the hub slides in. after removing the hub might not easily come out. WD-40 and a large pair of channel locks may be required. by the way the hub itself is not vacuum operated. its engaged by a sprag unit that works when power is supplied by the axles rotating.

Need to get to the front wheel bearings in the

jack up and support the front end on stands remove the wheel then remove the outer hub screws and then pull the hub out next you should see a large nut with square notches around the out side of the nut you will need the proper "spanner wrench"to remove this, once you remove the spanner nut there will be a large washer behind that with a small tab holes, that shim will pull out ,next remove the inner spanner nut(the same as the first one). This inner nut will have a small tab on it and fits into the shim you just removed make sure when you reinstall this nut and shim ring the tab and a hole line back up.Sorry I forgot to mention you need to remove the brake caliper also, just remove the two pressure rods(one on top and one on the bottom)by taking a hammer and a punch and gently tapping them outwards once they are out the caliper is able to be removed and swung up out of the way.Once the hub and inner nuts and shim are remove you will see the outer bearings and they come right out,for the rear bearings in the back of the hub you can pull out the old seal and remove the rear bearings.hope this helps its not as bad as it may seems once you've done one set they become easier for the next time

Frt lock out hubs inop

A snap ring holds the lock assembly. Get a set of snap ring pliers to help remove them. Then remove the caliper and disc , There should be 4 bolts on the back to remove. Then it should just comes right off.. Be careful it is quite heavy. Check for an ABS sensor wire if equipped. And vacuum hoses on hub .

I'm having trouble getting rear rotors off of a 1999 F350 4x4 dually. I can't figure out how to get the snap ring off.

snap ring? Its a full floater! Take bolts off end of shaft pull shaft out, remove bearing lock nut (the correct socket works so sweet!), pull hub and rotor off, The studs hold the rotor to hub or some have external torx bolts that hold it to the hub.Remove those and you may need to tap hard with a hammer to separate. Where is that snap ring?
You will need new seals, and studs are a good idea, how do those parking brake shoes look?

4 wheel drive 1991 f-250 to remove the Hubs to get rotors turned

pretty much the same as 2 wd.revove the outer hub I think it is held on with 6 allen head bolts.remove the inside snap ring (looks like a piece of thick wire) then you can slide the hub out,be sure to take note of the order they came out.remove the snap ring from the axle. The rest is basically the same as I described for the 2wd except you will have a large nut then a lock type washer and then another large nut in behind it remove these and take the rotor off
