you will need to check to make sure no coins fell into the track and is jammed it if not you will need to replace the bottom frame of the seat possible with a junk yard one much cheaper than buying new and junkyard frames come complete.

Hello Jim...If the seat controllers for the S40 are like the C70 you can try this...There is a micro switch on the hinge part of the seat
where the seat back and bottom meet. Just inside the hinge point. There is a spring attached to a metal plate.The spring comes off because one of the tabs holding it breaks. A lot of times you can reach under there and roll the metal plate and get the seat to move back.

the problem is you drive cable are striped at time only one side moves or nothing you will have to take out seat buy new drive cabels and replace them it will be hard to remove seat if is stuck in wrong position this job is for volvo dealer if you make misstake you can damage motors or gears and the items very expensive vs just cable

4 bolts is fairly easy remove the rear first with the seat all the way forwards and then put seat all the way back then 2 in the front remove them ..tilt the seat back and if there is any wire harness disconnect them as well ...reverse process for re-installation
