Engine fuel temperature sensor which measures the pressure of the fuel near the fuel injectors. This signal is used by the PCM to adjust the fuel injector pulsewidth and meter fuel to each engine combustion cylinder.
That was a common problem on Windstars. It is frequently caused by binding in the tie rod end. It presents as either a clunk or something akin to a dot matrix printer. It rarely shows up as a problem on a normal inspection of the tie rod but can cause problems later.
