Is the transmission for REAL locked in "Park"? You may need to pull apart the steering column to verify the interlock linkage between the shifter lever and the key cylinder.

Removing stuck key from audi q7 ignition

  • To release the stuck key, press the small, recessed button located on the outer ring of the ignition barrel using a small screwdriver or paperclip wire.
  • The cause may be due to a misaligned "Tiptronic" shifting assembley, or a failed sensor in the shifting assembly.

2007 volvo v50 key stuck in ignition vehicle totally shut down

It is best to call a locksmith, unless you know how to take apart the ignition tumbler and put the assemly locks in the correct order. It sounds like the key tumbler hold in broke and all the tumblers are loose and causing the key to be stuck. If you want to hurry the job for the locksmith and save money, buy the key tumbler assembly for your vehicle for the locksmith to install. Otherwise he will have to make the trip to buy the assembly, which in turn costs you more money. Mechanic shops can replace key tumblers too but when it is stuck in the column, it takes a lot of effort to remove if they are unskilled.

The Key FOB is stuck in the ignition. How can I get it to eject?

Most if not all vehicles have a Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. Or it has
Linear Shift Assembly: If the vehicle is equipped with a column mounted gear shift, it has a linear shift assembly on the steering column. The linear shift assembly has a cable that runs from the linear shift assembly to the ignition lock cylinder case. The purpose of this cable is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in gear and the vehicle may still be moving. The linear shift assembly cable contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.
Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer ! The fix involves taking the steering column apart an or the floor shifter assembly ! Also electrical test to determine what is the problem !

Can not remove old key sw the blade part is stuck in

A quick simple solution would be to try to start the car by sticking a flat-head screw driver like a key. A more expensive solution would be to find another ignition assembly with key from a junk yard and replace the whole thing. An even more expensive option would be to buy the ignition assembly and keys from a parts store or from the nearest Ford dealership. Hopefully this helps to FixYa problem!

1985 corvette key stuck in ignition so cant change it out

You can remove the ignition module as a whole and Dis-Assemble it to remove the tumblers and get the key back that way. If your replacing the Ignition set anyway once you get the module removed you can install the new on and toss the old one. You can have the doors and trunk re-keyed by a locksmith to match the new key. Make sure you remove any key chain you have attached to the ignition key that is stuck and follow the removal steps for the ignition module. Should be fine.
