What's wrong? 91 toyota camry runs rough when it gets hot in hot weather. Runs fine in cooler weather. Does not die, but will not accelerate. If you put in neutral, kill and restart, it will do ok, like something was reset, but will start acting up again within a few minutes. Any ideas?

Car has worn electric components-some dont work when hot--need to do a diagnostic scan using factory equip to determine--bout 100$ at a private shop only--dont go to busy places-find a honest mechanic and ask if he has the xperienc reading the results--u dont wanna just replace parts and gamble

you should check 3 things. AIr, Fuel, and "spark"
your cars could have many problems. Ignition module, fuel injectors, Mass Airflow Sensor.
You should check into all of these 3 things.
a crank-no start could be many things.
it could even be a cam positions sensors resistance going up when the engine heats up. Cracnk- no start means testing. n like i said
The motor is getting Air, There is Fuel being put into the cylinders, and the Spark plugs are firing.

YOUR problem is the carby acc pump and idle jet ...... what you need to do is remove airfilter and take the top off the carby and you should see a small ball and spring under gasket ...when you open the throttle it will pump petrol to the small pick up jet and the other jet will take over ...clean out carby jets and rebuild and that should be ok

I dont use this word much but im Assumeing that YOUR mechanic scanned the computer and checked the coolant sensor or other possible causes,Ive ran across this many times before so bare with me,Have your mechanic try a known good Airflow meter and dont forget to check the main airboot for rips,cracks or tears in the seams,gotta inspect all the areas where it is accordianed for flexibility,another one is moisture penetrating into the distributor cap,got more if ya need them hope this helped let me know have a good day Darrell

SOURCE: I have a 2.2L 1995 camry. It starts and runs

it sounds that runs rough under load (in gear)
a sesor on the crank or camshaft may be playing up and upsetting the ignition timing
take it to the dealer and have them plug into it and diagnose what the light is on for

Sables always have radiator problems also ive owned 2 and first thing ive done when bought them is replaced the radiator and added an external cooling system

91 jimmy starts cold, runs rough hot, dies when put in drive

Try to unplug the mass airflow sensor and start it. It will idle higher but should run fine. If it works then you need a MAF sensor. Be sure you have an OBDII code puller to clear the computer when done
