Burning oil, misfires, check engine loght blinking

I replaced my oil not even a month ago and now i had to fill it back up because it was near empty. the check engine light has come on and i took it to autozone and the said it was because of misfiring. i can tell it is misfiring when i drive it, but i replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils half way through january. also had to replace the bottom cat, the top one i left alone but it has been gutted out. when i let the car sit for 8+ hours and try to start it, it starts right up. if i try to start it after just driving it it takes it awhile before it will start up. there is no smoke coming out the tailpipe but i am losing a lot of oil. what could be wrong with my car?

It's probably your coil pack. thats were the plug wires run to from the spark plugs. [email protected] e-mail me if this doesn't solve it.

Hi, my first recommendation would be to take the plugs out and visually inspect each one and check to make sure they are properly gapped, if they look fouled at all i would replace them without hesitation. try throwing a set of NGK plugs in the car to fix the misfires. other than that you may want to look at the wires. good luck joe

Got a problem with a misfire on 4 put all new plugs & a new oil changed engine light blinking in and our car running rough when I stopped car smelled burning and smoke near back tires

I really couldn't tell you without checking it out. But I would check the coil pack or dist.Cap or ignition control module and change the sparkplug wires.

It's probably the Sparkplug wires or one of the coils, depending what your car has.

Why would the water level keep dropping ?

Few possible causes... You could have a leak in pipes or cooling radiator, you could have a leak in your heater matrix, has engine overheated? You could have a blown head gasket, check for leaks & remove oil cap and look for creamy milk colour sludge, if you see milky colour sludge under your oil cap then your head gasket needs replacing

2000 toyota mr2 burninig a lot of oil, misfiring, lose of power, check engine light blinking

There are different reasons why this problem is happening. From your description, I believe that you may have an engine failure. Defective piston rings and/or damaged valve seals or guides. The first think I would do is perform a compression test. A compression test (wet and dry) will tell you if the compression levels are even and acceptable. It will also tell you if you are having a valve related issue within the head. Where you are losing oil, I would start here. There really is only three places for oil two go, when there is a failure. into the cylinders and out the exhaust, in the coolant, and onto the ground. I hope this helps, please write back if you have additional questions or updates on your progress, good luck.

P0302 #2 cyclider misfire

Sounds like the pintle in the #2injector is not properly seated allowing fuel to drip into that cylinder when the engine is off .

White smoke coming out of tail pipe.

WHITE smoke? Or BLUE smoke? White smoke is usually caused by burning antifreeze (possible blown head gasket). Engine oil burning causes a bluish colored smoke.

Changing the oil two months ago means absolutely nothing to me. I have customers that travel 6000 miles or more in a month. Oil consumption is measured in volume over miles, not volume over months. It is normal for most 4 cylinder engines to use a little less than 1/2 quart in 1000 miles (even more than that for 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder engines).

Why does my 2005 impala leak dexcool like crazy, which throws my heat off.

It's either leaking or burning the dexcool due to a bad gasket. Check your oil to make sure the coolant isn't leaking into the oil. If it is STOP driving it and have it towed to a shop. Coolant in your oil can destroy your engine.

the oil sensors tell you lots of things so yes it could be because you're burning up the oil. i would try putting in a bottle of Lucas it is thick and it should help you burn less oil. it is a full quart so don't over fill.

HUGE OIL consumption! My check engine light came! Loud rattling!

Sounds like an oil seal or manifold gasket. If you don't see oil in your driveway, the oil is burning off in the engine and this would cause the misfire if it's getting to the sparkplugs. Take a flashlight and look under the hood for any small pools of oil near the sparkplugs. I'd go to a different dealership for service and I'm willing to bet they'll confirm an oil seal or gasket problem. Best of luck with your problem.

I have a nissan pathfinder 2001 and my problem is that the "service engine soon"appears in the panel board 7 months ago and its steady while my engine runs normally, but now my engine is vibrating while i'm...

I've had this issue and had the engine codes checked. It was a coil wire in one of the cylinders (nissan has ignition coils instead of the old plug wires) and this will fix the misfire if in fact that is what it is. To tell if you are misfiring, does the car idle smoothly? Does it misfire and kind of shake while driving where only pushing the gas peddel takes the problem away? Does the car feel like it may stall? Have it checked as if you don't and it continues it could burn out the catalytic converters and those are expensive on the nissan as there are multiples.
