SOURCE: How do I reset my Check Engine Light?

you could go to an auto parts store and they can reset it for you, or you could pull your battery cables off the battery and hold them together for about 10 sec. that will clear any codes.

1988 buick Century backfires so hard it blows the muffler apart?

A backfire in the exhaust system is usually the result of a rich mixture ( too much fuel ) being supplied to the engine. It can also be a result of a timing/ignition problem. Does the vehicle run ok at idle? Is the check engine light on? If so, have the codes scanned for any problem areas that may be causing a rich mixture

1988 Buick Century 3.8 stalling issue starts back up. fuel pump/filter replaced it stalls out randomly at all driving conditions. I am stumped on this one. anyone have help for me on this?

Does it seem to do it more once it runs for a bit? It could be a bad DIS module. They are known to fail once they get hot. Either that or the ignition switch located at the top of the base of the column.

Just had my oil changed and the check engine oil level low light is coming on . But checked it and it's not low , just on the full mark . It comes on everytime I restart the car . how do I fix that ?After...

You have to reset the check engine oil level light. The light is just a 3 month reminder that lets you know when to change your oil. You have to hold the reset button on your dash for more then 5 to 10 sec. The procedure is in the owners manual that came with the car.

How do I turn off service engine light on 1988 volvo 740 gle

One way that always works is to disconnect the battery for at least ten minutes. If the cause of the check engine light turning on in the first place is not fixed, then the light will come on again pretty quickly after starting the car.
To reset your service light here are the steps.

1. Get in your car and shut the door.
2. Put your key in the ignition
3. Turn your ignition key to position 1
4. Push in your Odometer reset button and hold it in while holding it move the ignition key to position 2 while holding down the odometer reset button.
5. After couple of seconds of holding the button down and the key in position 2 your service light will start to blink once that happens let go of the reset button and start the car.
