Car alarm is really annoying

My 2000 Saturn SL has a car alarm that is rather annoying at times. Whenever I open the door after unlocking it, the alarm goes off. I tried finding a fuse for it but there is nothing. I have to hurry and put the key in ignition and start it so the alarm stops going off. Is there anyway to disable the alarm all together?

Yeah i don't have a remote alarm just a key. it's pretty old school, at least it has power locks though. I just have to manually unlock it from the outside. And i'll try that saturn dealer thing. Thanks for your help =)

The anti-theft alarm goes off everytime you open door regardless if it is locked or not

Interesting, seems alarm has been set-off before<now circuit is ON> and not been re-set back to neutral<re-set circuit to OFF> so when doors are closed, alarm memory retains previous set alarm memory <circuit set to ON>. It'ill go off again whenever door being opened, regardless it have been armed or left open as the memory circuit recognise it still as before alarm set-off<circuit is set ON>.

Solution, 1) Read your car owner's manual in the alarm section, read on how to re-set alarm to neutral if it has been set-off while armed [my experience is by turning the ignition key as if you are going to start the car engine but do not start engine then back to off position, do it 3 times as it will beep after 3rd run]. 2) On 4th run, start the engine, lock all doors then unlock it, 3) Turn off engine, get out from car, lock doors and arm alarm. 4) Dis-arm alarm, open doors and see if it still set-off alarm as before.

If all that doesnot work, go to your local dealer as alarm system has a system fault that can't be fixed without proper equipments.

Follow the instruction on how to accept and mark advise as giving you a core solution. Return a thumb up and praise response. Thank you.

We've lost the key fob and need to use the spare key to enter car with out alarm sounding.

if you unlock the driver door before opening it with the key you can turn the alarm off. Also taking it to a electronics place and having a keyless entry system will bypass the factory alarm as long as you tell them to hook it up and in most cases its less than buying a new factory remote. Also if you dont lock the car with the lock button from the driver door before you close the door the alarm will not arm.

'98 Saturn SL1 won't start. Alarm system behaving strangely. Have power, turn key-nothing. Then it will start for no reason. Drove it home (20 miles), shut it off and it won't start again. Changed battery...

I had this same exact problem in a family member's Saturn. If you are opening the door with the key and not using the key FOB to unlock the doors, then the security system will not allow you to start the car. You will notice when this happens that the dome light will blink and you'll hear the relay in the BCM clicking.

In order to stop the security system from doing this: Make sure the car is locked with the key fob by hitting the lock button. Then hit the unlock button on the key fob once and then once again (I do it out of habit). Then open the driver side door, put the key in and it should start no problem.

Ford Escort Alarm - Annoying Problem!

it seems that the contact circuit in the driverside door is the problem, it's obviously not the alarm itself others wise the same thing would occure on the passengerside. you have to remove the door panel on the driverside and inspect the wires in that circuit for corrosion which would cause no current to pass between the by pass switch the arms or disarms the alarm. please rate this

CAR ALARM

put your key in the drivers side from the outside door and turn the key one time to the right to lock your car and two times to unlock it and if your having trouble with the alarm going off open the trunk with the key to disable the alarm if it turned on.
