2006 Sportage EX: Click or Rattle coming from dashboard

Just bought a 2006 Sportage EX 2WD with 37,500 miles on it. There is a real annoying click or rattle coming from the dashboard. Sounded like a loose panel, but seems to be electronic. It also becomes more prevalent when I accelerate.

    Wiz,

Thank you for the comment. I am having the dealer inspect it tomorrow morning and will have them check that first. Should be covered under the 5 year basic warranty. How can I check on it myself?

if you can reach the back of speedometer, feel for the cable and push it into the gauge to make sure it is seated and not in a bind. You should hear it clok if it wasn't seated all the way-- good luc

How many miles can you can run with the oil transmission?

I couldn't find the manual for the 2005, the 2006 says the automatic transmission should be inspected every 24,000 km (15,000 mi) and changed every 60,000 km (37,500 mi).
The manual transmission should be inspected every 48,000 km (30,000 mi) and has no recommended change within 180,000 km (112,500 mi) where the maintenance schedule ends.

Here is the owners manual for the 2006, the maintenance schedule is section 6 almost the very end.

Where is the mode actuator in kia sportage 2006

Hi Judith , that clicking noise is annoying ! That's what there do when there wore out, just plastic gears inside. It is located under the dash left side I'll add a picture of it's location. You will probably have to take some kind of panel off on the left side under the steering wheel .Have to lay on floor to look up under the dash to see it. Once you do that you can reach you hand up and feel the actuator clicking,

HOLD keeps coming on in my 99 kia sportage what does that mean

Look on the shifter lever, just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.
