U2023 External Node Fault DTC ABS Module REFER to Section 418-00 . U2023 Fault Received From External Node SJB REFER to Section 418-00 .
Which module did you pull this code from ? What type scanner or was it a code reader ?
Do you know what a serial data network is ? specifically C.A.N - controller area network ! Do you know what a node is ? A control module ,PCM ,SJB ,IPC etc...
Communications Network Smart Junction Box (SJB) The SJB is connected to the medium speed controller area network (CAN) communications bus. If one of the bus wires becomes shorted to ground or voltage, communications can continue at a reduced level. Check circuits 1847 (WH/OG), and 1848 (PK/OG) between the SJB C2280a, the instrument cluster C220 and the data link connector (DLC) C251. Total resistance values must not be more than 5 ohms. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, there is an open circuit in the medium speed CAN, damage to the DLC C251, or damage to the SJB C2280a. Since both the SJB and the instrument cluster share network termination responsibilities, a problem in either of these modules can result in a medium speed CAN failure. For additional SJB information, refer to Section 419-10 .
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) The PCM is on the high speed CAN. The PCM controls the engine for better fuel economy, emissions control, failure mode detection and storage, and all passive anti-theft system (PATS) functions. If one of the bus wires becomes shorted to ground or voltage, communications can continue at a reduced level. Check the high speed CAN circuits 1908 (WH) and 1909 (BK), between the PCM C175b and the DLC C251. Total resistance values must not be more than 5 ohms. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, there is an open circuit in the high speed CAN, damage to the DLC C251, damage to the PCM C175b, or a problem in the in-line connector. Since both the PCM and the instrument cluster share network termination responsibilities, a problem in either of these modules can result in a high speed CAN failure. For additional PATS information, refer to Section 419-01B . For additional PCM information, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual. For removal and installation information, refer to Section 303-14A or Section 303-14B .
Instrument Cluster The instrument cluster is on the high speed CAN. It is an analog face cluster with a digital odometer. The instrument cluster displays a variety of information. If one of the bus wires becomes shorted to ground or voltage, communications can continue at a reduced level. Check the high speed CAN circuits 1908 (WH) and 1909 (BK) between the instrument cluster C220 and the DLC C251. Total resistance values must not be more than 5 ohms. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, there is an open circuit in the CAN network, damage to the DLC C251, damage to the instrument cluster C220, or a problem in the in-line connector. Since both the PCM and the instrument cluster share network termination responsibilities, a problem in either of these modules can result in a high speed CAN failure. For additional instrument cluster information, refer to Section 413-01 .
The vehicle has 3 module communication networks: high speed and medium speed CAN network, which are comprised of unshielded twisted pair cable, and the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communication network, which is a single wire network. All 3 networks are connected to the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing a diagnostic tester to be able to diagnose and control any module on the 3 networks from the connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the radio.

U1096 code on a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

Do you know what U code's are about ? Does the vehicle start an run ?
Modules connected to the class 2 serial data circuit monitor for serial data communications during normal vehicle operation. Operating information and commands are exchanged among the modules. When a module receives a message for a critical operating parameter, the module records the identification number of the module which sent the message for State of Health monitoring (Node Alive messages). A critical operating parameter is one which, when not received, requires that the module use a default value for that parameter. Once an identification number is learned by a module, it will monitor for that modules "Node Alive" message. Each module on the class 2 serial data circuit which is powered and performing functions that require detection of a communications malfunction is required to send a "Node Alive" message every 2 seconds. When no message is detected from a learned identification number for 5 seconds, a DTC U1096 , where 096 is equal to the 3 digit identification number, is set.

What does abs code u2023 mean for a 2006 ford escape?

The U2023 definition says that incorrect information was received from another module. U-codes are not easy to track down. Code needs to be active to diagnose and you need a full scanner that can access all the modules on the vehicle. Usually with communication or network codes the module at fault will not communicate with scanner

I am getting a u1153 code along with p0300 and B0092. How do I fix this? We have already replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs.

What make , model an year vehicle ? U1153 is a communication code . Vehicles with more then one control module have a serial data network for the control modules to talk to each other on . p0300 is a random misfire which could be low fuel pressure , vacuum leaks etc..

Do you know anything about GM class 2 serial data network .

When no message is detected from a learned identification number for 10 seconds, a DTC U1016
The control module ID number list below provides a method for determining which module is not communicating. A module with a class 2 serial data circuit malfunction or which loses power during the current ignition cycle will have a Loss of Communication DTC set by other modules that depend on information from that failed module. The modules that can communicate will set a DTC indicating the module that can not communicate.

U2023 06 navagator

U2023 Fault Received from External Node Instrument Cluster REFER to Section 418-00 .
Do you have a no - crank - no start condition ? Do you know what medium speed C.A.N is ? Their is a high an medium speed C.A.N serial data communication network for all the modules on the vehicle to share info on. Does a scan tool communicate with the instrument cluster ? Or any or all modules on the vehicle ?
Instrument Cluster The instrument cluster uses the medium speed CAN. The instrument cluster also uses the high speed CAN to communicate with other modules. It is an analog face cluster with a digital odometer. The instrument cluster displays a variety of information. For additional information, refer to Section 413-01 .
Principles of Operation
The vehicle has 4 module communications networks:
  • the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communications network (Navigator with navigation system only)
  • the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communications network
  • the medium speed controller area network (CAN)
  • the high speed CAN
The diagnostic tool connects to all 4 networks through the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one diagnostic tester to be able to diagnose and control any module on the 4 networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the audio unit.
  • The instrument cluster does not respond to the diagnostic tool
  • Circuit or connection in the medium speed controller area network (CAN)
  • Circuit or connection in the high speed CAN
  • Instrument cluster

I have a ford explore 4wd v-6 engine. i had a diagnostic test done and the codes are U1900, B2900 and U2023. The mechanic didn't tell me what they meant. Told me I need to replace my battery for $200.00,...

U1900 - is a continuous code = C.A.N. communication bus fault - receive error

B2900 - can't find

U2023 - can't find

none of these are powertrain codes. if you have no symptoms, clear codes and drive car. I think you can clear by disconnecting battery for 2 hours. then drive for 10 miles to relearn. may run rough for 10 miles.
