Could be the shifting fork broke, slave cylinder went out, etc...
Several things it could be, need more info.
Were you shifting when it happened? Just driving along?

Reverse gear failures and noise in the manual transmission models are common with these cars.

Shift linkage has weak connectors and break easily after time.

I would suggest you take it to a shop that you trust and have them diagnose the problem,

I would be looking at the clutch & pressure plate assy., also check the fluid level in the slave reservoir.

2006 Hyundai Elantra clutch pedal stays down and car will not start

The clutch being on the floor says the slave cylender, or pilot bearing for the clutch is faulty. The vehicle should still start if you put it in neutral, it just can't be driven. Unsure about the windows.

Jacking up the drivetrain to install engine mount may have damaged clutch linkage. Check it for clutch operation. Also look for loose bolts holding trans to engine.

Clutch pedal stays down

If it is hydraulic then there is either no oil in the system and needs fixing-filling and bleeding . If cable clutch it may be linkage but I suspect that the cable has broken and needs replacing

Was driving home and pushed clutch in and it went to the floor, did my linkage break or just come off?

if the fluid is low, the hydraulic system is bad. plan on replacing the master and slave cylinder. If the fluid is OK, then watch the linkage when pressing the clutch pedal. I ASSUME it has linkage but I dont know what year or model you have? the trans will have to come out to service the clutch slave and in that case you may need to replace the clutch assembly. Plan on a new clutch, master and slave cylinder.

Look a little further sounds like a simple linkage problen, Maybe a bolt came out or something to that affect. The pedal comes back up by way of clutch springs pushing back on the linkage. Nothing wrong with clutch. Again look at the linkage

My clutch pedal went to the floor when i started my car without depressing it. I have fluid in my resivor.

Hi,
Beings as the pedal fell to the floor without you depressing it,after the motor started, I would get a flashlight and look for the clutch linkage ,from the inside to the master ,then to the slave cylinder. The linkage may have come disconnected somewhere. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

You really need to say more?
Of the 3 types of clutch linkage, rod, cable, and hydraulic, and can totally fail, bind, or there could be a failure inside the clutch itself, like the pressure plate.
You need to say whether the back pressure totally went away, if the pedal is just not moving freely, etc.
But certainly do not try to drive it at all.

My clutch pedal suddenly stuck to the floor but wont engage anymore. The cable seemed fine

As far as I can remember, the Jetta has a ball & socket linkage on top of the gearbox. This linkage eventually wear out & the ball will pop out of the socket thus giving you no clutch pedal.
Lift the bonnet & have a look on the right hand side of the engine, you should be able to see what I mean. Push the ball back into the socket & you'll get your clutch pedal back. Chances are the clutch will probably go again unless you replace the worn parts but they're a cheap enough fix.
Hope this helps, Stephen.
