I feel dumb but i replaced all 4 ball joints on my '89 1500 4x4 last year and my top ones are alraedt shot, so im replacing them an getting new ones under the warrenty but i cant remember if i have to take the bottom ball joints off the lower control arms or if i can just pop the top ones out and just replace them???
Did my 90 k1500 4x4 upper and lowers by myself with nothing but drill hammer Chiapas and punches and of course lots of beer blood sweat and some tears but got it done two days and some cussing and lots of patients it can be done. Good luck
I think the lower ball joints when removing will give you easier access to the top. I would suggest going to the local parts store for a print out of the procedure to be on the safe side.
