2003 Escape Cruise Control Problem

The other day my cruise control quit working. When I push the button to turn it on, the light on the dash comes on, but the cruise just doesn't kick in. I checked the fuse and that looks good. The valve looks ok. The buttons aren't stuck. Any suggestions besides taking it in to get looked at?

Same poblem on the same yr and model,.. I found that under the hood, the cruise control linkage to the throttle body valve had poped off. The connection design seems weak. I reconnected it and manually open the TB valve and the cruise linkage pops off again. I'm looking for a replacement Cruise linkage connector. The end looks replaceable item.

I have the same issue on the 03 Escape. I have not checked under the hood to see if the connection is bad, but will look into it today. I have been experiencing what sounds like a fuel pump going out and wonder if that isn't connected with the cruise control problem.

The valve your looking at is by the gas pedal that is the actuator it applies and releases the cruise control there's another unit under the hood that is the module it has a cable coming out of it on the end it maybe frozen from ice accumulated on it

I had this same Problem and it was a simple vaccuum hose leak connected to the cruise control module. Try replacing this small hose.

SOURCE: cruise control

ok, there are two issues. one could be a fuse that you can exchange out with a working one. secondly, this could be a sensor that is connected to the cruise control assembly under the hood. i would pop the hood to see if the cruse control assembly has became stuck or the cable may have been severed as well.

SOURCE: my cruise control just quit on my 97 olds. how do

First check the fuse in the fuse box. It also sounds like you may have a wire in the column that is shorting out. you may have to replace the turn lever.

The tip that connects the accelerator cable to your throttle for the cruise control may be broken. I have had that problem before. The light won't come on cause your cruise isn't engaged

look in your owner's manual for the location of the cruse control fuse it is different from other fuses usually much larger

I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I just had new front brakes put on, replaced the front bumper and a lightbulb for the rear blinker. Now my cruise control doesn't work.

Au contrer . the brake pedal should be up all the way, or your sw that turns on brake lights also affects cruse....when your brake pedal is slightly pushed it disconnects the cruise. Did you bleed brakes properly?

Once you have turned your cruise control on accelerate to desired speed press SET button on right hand side of steering wheel before lifting foot from accelerator, then remove foot from accelerator. pushing RESUME button will deactivate cruise control without turning it off. Then when clear of traffic push resume again to activate cruise control. It will automatically resume to previous set speed.

The cruise control switch will not engage or set when pushing set button, but the green cruise light is on on the dash.

Check your fuse panels both inside, and outside the vehicle, as well as the connections to the cruise control.

Cruise control stopped working

check brake switch under dash above the brake pedal. See if sensing wires are broken . or if it uses a duplicate switch sensor check it is engaging properly. Also check you tube on possible failures.
Also in the engine bay the cable from the accelerator petal will attach to the trottle on the engine. Check for another cable at this location from the cruise control and check the cable is not broken .

Check brake globes are functioning and are not blown as well.
